Job Summary
The Equity Trader is responsible for executing investment transactions and providing timely market insights to support portfolio management and advisory activities. The role monitors local and global financial markets, identifies investment opportunities, and ensures the efficient execution of trades in accordance with best execution standards, approved investment guidelines, and risk parameters.
Working closely with Portfolio Managers, Relationship Managers, Investment Advisers, counterparties, and Senior Management, the Investment Trader supports the implementation of investment strategies, evaluates market opportunities, manages primary market transactions, and maintains strong relationships with market participants to help optimize client portfolio performance and support the growth of assets under management (AUM).
Responsibilities
- Execute buy and sell transactions across approved investment products and markets, ensuring best execution and compliance with investment mandates, trading policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor local and global financial markets, market developments, and trading activities to identify investment opportunities and provide actionable market insights and recommendations.
- Prepare and deliver regular market updates, trading intelligence, and investment commentary to Relationship Managers, Investment Advisers, Portfolio Managers, and Senior Management.
- Ensure all trades are executed within approved counterparty limits, investment outlet approvals, and risk management parameters established by the Investment and Risk Committees.
- Coordinate with local and foreign counterparties on primary issuances, trade execution, pricing, and market opportunities while managing order flows and book allocations.
- Identify and evaluate new investment outlets, products, and trading opportunities consistent with prevailing market conditions and approved investment strategies.
- Develop, maintain, and strengthen relationships with counterparties, brokers, dealers, and other market participants to support trading effectiveness and market access.
- Support portfolio implementation activities and collaborate with investment teams to ensure efficient execution of investment decisions.
- Maintain accurate trading records and ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and internal governance requirements.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Management, Accounting, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in investments, treasury, capital markets, trading, asset management, wealth management, brokerage, or financial services is preferred.
- Experience in financial market analysis and investment execution is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of local and global financial markets.
- Knowledge of fixed income, equities, foreign exchange, and other investment instruments.
- Understanding of fundamental and technical analysis methodologies.
- Knowledge of investment products, portfolio management concepts, and market dynamics.
- Familiarity with applicable regulatory, legal, and compliance requirements related to investment activities.
