Role Description The Equipment Safety Engineer is a contract, on-site role based in Pakil, responsible for ensuring that equipment used on POWERCHINA projects operates safely and in compliance with applicable standards and regulations. Day-to-day tasks include performing safety inspections and risk assessments for mechanical and electrical equipment, reviewing technical drawings and specifications for safety implications, and monitoring installation, commissioning, and operation to identify and mitigate hazards. The role involves developing and updating equipment safety procedures, supporting incident investigations, and collaborating with project managers, site engineers, and contractors to implement corrective and preventive actions. The Equipment Safety Engineer also conducts safety briefings and training related to equipment use, prepares documentation and reports for internal and regulatory purposes, and supports continuous improvement of safety practices across the site.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of equipment safety standards, codes, and regulations relevant to construction and industrial environments.
  • Experience conducting equipment inspections, risk assessments, and hazard analyses, with the ability to recommend practical mitigation measures.
  • Background in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, preferably with experience on large infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and OEM manuals to evaluate safety and compliance.
  • Proficiency in preparing clear safety reports, checklists, incident documentation, and corrective action plans.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and frontline site personnel.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety culture, with experience delivering safety briefings or training sessions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field; relevant professional certifications in safety or engineering are an advantage.
  • Willingness to work full-time on-site in Pakil and adapt to dynamic project schedules and conditions.
