Job Description

Qualifications

Must be a Licensed Mechanical Engineer, with the maturity and experience expected of a senior construction executive and with excellent physical condition.

With at least 15 years of progressive experience in heavy equipment management within the construction industry, including at least 10 years in a senior leadership or managerial role.

Proven ability to lead an Equipment Management Group supporting multiple simultaneous construction projects.

Must possess extensive technical knowledge and hands-on experience in heavy construction equipment, fleet management, and batching plant operations, including equipment diagnostics, preventive and corrective maintenance, major repairs and overhauls, maintenance planning, equipment utilization, production support, equipment life-cycle management, and operational performance. Experience handling excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, dump trucks, cranes, batching plants, asphalt equipment, rollers, generators, compressors, and other heavy construction equipment is essential.

Strong knowledge of budgeting, equipment costing, revenue monitoring, labor cost management, maintenance cost control, fleet utilization analysis, return on equipment investment, and asset life-cycle management, with the ability to make sound decisions on equipment acquisition, repair, rehabilitation, replacement, disposal, retirement, and fleet expansion.

Strong leadership, planning, decision-making, negotiation, analytical, and people management skills, with excellent communication and coordination skills in dealing with Executive Management, Project Teams, Clients, Suppliers, and other stakeholders.

Proficient in MS Office applications and computerized maintenance or fleet management systems, with the ability to establish systems, strengthen accountability, improve operational efficiency, and consistently deliver measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

The EMG Manager shall lead and oversee the Company's Equipment Management Group (EMG), ensuring the efficient planning, deployment, control, utilization, maintenance, and overall performance of the Company's heavy equipment fleet and batching plant operations in support of multiple construction projects. The position shall provide leadership to Motorpool Supervisors, Equipment Superintendents/Supervisors, and Preventive Maintenance Supervisors while working closely with Project Operations, Project Managers and other support departments to ensure equipment and batching plant requirements are properly planned, coordinated, monitored, and delivered in accordance with project schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, company policies, and operational objectives.

The EMG Manager shall manage the Department's budget and oversee equipment- and batching plant operations, revenues, labor costs, maintenance expenditures, operating expenses, and fleet productivity. The position shall evaluate equipment and batching plant performance, recommend equipment acquisition, rehabilitation, replacement, or disposal based on sound technical and financial analysis, and ensure that EMG operations consistently support the Company's productivity, quality, safety, and profitability objectives.
