Educational Background
- Master's degree or equivalent in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Social Sciences, International Development or a related discipline.
- Additional certifications (e.g., ISO 14001 or EIA-related accreditations, social safeguards training) are an advantage.
Professional Experience
- At least 10 years of relevant work experience environmental and social safeguards or related field/s across infrastructure, energy, financial, or development sectors.
- Demonstrated experience in managing or providing technical leadership on projects for private sector or IFI-financed initiatives, including
- Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs/EIA)
- Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD)
- Preparation and implementation of Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs) and corrective action plans
- Climate Risk Assessment (CRA)
- Designing and executing stakeholder engagement strategies, community consultation processes, grievance redress mechanisms, and social risk Stakeholder engagement, grievance redress, and social risk mitigation plans
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams
Technical and Sectoral Expertise
- Sectoral experience on E&S risks across infrastructure (transport, urban development, water), energy (renewables, energy transition, just transition), industrial development, and natural resources will be highly valued.
- Ability to interpret complex regulatory and policy requirements related to environmental protection, climate change, and social inclusion, and translate these into practical actionable recommendations for clients.
- Experience contributing to feasibility studies incorporating E&S considerations, climate risk and adaptation assessments, just transition planning and strategic market/sector studies that shape sustainability or decarbonization roadmaps.
- Ability to apply environmental and social considerations within broader ESG and sustainability strategies, ideally to provide strategic advisory on ESG risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and alignment with sustainability frameworks.
- Familiarity with integrating IFC Performance Standards and ADB Environmental and Social Framework, and other international financial institution (AFI) E&S safeguards with broader ESG and sustainability strategies.
