POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Environmental and Social Specialist will be part of the Environmental and Social (E&S) APAC team, providing his expertise to a wide variety of clients (lenders, developers, private investors, private companies) involved in infrastructure projects across the APAC region. The role involves managing multiple assignments in parallel and delivering high-quality inputs for a range of projects, including Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD), Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), and social audits.

RESPONSIBILITY:
- Advise on land acquisition, resettlement, Indigenous Peoples, stakeholder engagement and grievance mechanisms, human rights, community health and safety, and the alignment between local legal requirements and international standards.
- Deliver social inputs for assignments such as ESDD, ESIA, audits, and lender monitoring, ensuring compliance with international standards (e.g. IFC Performance Standards, ADB Safeguards, Equator Principles) and applicable national regulations.
- Identify material social risks, legacy issues, and compliance gaps, and define prioritized, practical, and implementable corrective actions.
- Prepare and review key social deliverables, including ESDD reports, risk registers, Environmental and Social Action Plans (ESAPs), and social management plans (e.g. Stakeholder Engagement Plans, Land Acquisition and Resettlement Plans, Indigenous Peoples Plans, Livelihood Restoration Plans).
- Work closely with experts within the E&S team and across other technical disciplines.
- Support regional project delivery by coordinating local consultants and interpreting social and regulatory contexts across APAC countries.
- Contribute to the preparation of project proposals for assignments across the APAC region.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 36+ years of professional experience preferably within a consulting firm.
- Demonstrated experience delivering ESDD, ESIA advisory, and/or lender monitoring assignments for projects financed by international financial institutions or International private lenders.
- Strong working knowledge of international standards such as IFC Performance Standards and/or ADB Safeguards, Equator Principles.
- Understanding of Philippines social and land regulatory frameworks, and ability to assess gaps between local requirements and international standards.
- Proven experience with land acquisition, resettlement, Indigenous Peoples, stakeholder engagement, and human rights issues.
- Experience working with sub-consultants and review their work.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary E&S teams.
- Excellent English communication and report-writing skills; knowledge of any other language of the ASEAN would be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of Environmental and HSE topics would be a strong advantage.
