Role Overview

We are seeking an Entrepreneur-in-Residence (potential Chief Operating Officer) who can translate strategy into execution and build the operational backbone required for platform scale.

Your mandate is to take a distributed energy business from early traction to repeatable, scalable operations building the systems, processes, and teams that enable sustainable growth without operational breakdown.

You will closely work on execution, resource allocation, and organizational design. This role requires a leader who thrives in 0-to-1 and 1-to-10 environments, understands operational inflection points, and can build structure without building bureaucracy.

Operations & Scaling

  • Build and scale operational systems across deployment, onboarding, monitoring, and maintenance
  • Identify operational inflection points as the company grows (10 50 200+)
  • Design repeatable workflows that enable high transaction volumes
  • Balance automation and manual processes appropriately at each stage
  • Build dashboards and performance tracking systems that drive accountability
  • Ensure operational readiness before accelerating growth

Systems & Process Design

  • Architect simple, scalable processes that enable speed not slow it down
  • Eliminate unnecessary complexity and bureaucracy
  • Identify bottlenecks and structural constraints early
  • Create clear ownership across cross-functional workflows
  • Continuously evaluate and refine processes based on data and outcomes

Financial & Resource Management

  • Build and manage operational budgets aligned with growth targets
  • Understand and optimize unit economics (CAC, LTV, margins, burn)
  • Prioritize resource allocation under capital constraints
  • Drive operational efficiency and ROI on major initiatives
  • Negotiate effectively with vendors and ecosystem partners
  • Ensure capital discipline while maintaining execution velocity

Risk, Resilience & Crisis Management

  • Lead operational response during periods of stress or disruption
  • Triage urgent vs. important issues without panic
  • Conduct post-mortems and build prevention systems
  • Establish strong risk management and compliance frameworks
  • Maintain continuity as transaction volumes increase

Leadership & Governance

  • Partner closely with the founders as a thought partner and execution counterpart
  • Recruit and develop high-performing operational leaders
  • Build a culture of accountability, ownership, and execution excellence
  • Ensure alignment with strategic and governance frameworks
  • Represent the company with investors, partners, and regulators when needed

  • Proven experience scaling operations from early traction to structured growth
  • Built systems that evolved through multiple growth stages (10 100 500+)
  • Understands operational inflection points and when processes must change
  • Comfortable operating in resource-constrained environments

Systems Thinking & Process Design

  • Designs simple, scalable systems that enable speed rather than bureaucracy
  • Sees cross-functional dependencies and structural bottlenecks early
  • Balances structure with flexibility as the company grows
  • Builds dashboards and metrics that drive accountability and action

Financial Acumen & Resource Discipline

  • Strong understanding of unit economics, margins, burn, and ROI
  • Comfortable making trade-offs under capital constraints
  • Aligns operational decisions with financial impact
  • Operates lean while enabling growth

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Management, or related field
  • MBA or equivalent postgraduate degree preferred
  • Preferably 1015 years of experience in solar, battery storage, EV charging, other distributed energy solutions or or other adjacent sectors
  • Proven leadership experience building or scaling an early-stage business or platform, with direct accountability for performance, execution, and growth outcomes
  • Proven leadership experience in capital raising, project finance, or structured energy transactions, with direct accountability for strategy, execution, and stakeholder management
  • Exposure to Southeast Asian energy markets advantageous
