The Venture

Volt General is a behind-the-meter battery solution that allows retail electricity suppliers (RESs) to optimize their procurement costs through per-customer load-shifting.

About the Role

To be able to disrupt the traditional but high-opportunity energy sector, we need visionaries who are passionate about reimagining old ways of working and using innovative technologies to solve pain points on both the demand and supply sides of the market. As the Co-Founder/CEO, you will be given the resources of AboitizPower to build, launch and scale this venture from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Venture Building: Able to start ventures from the ground up–concept planning and design, product, business model, team hiring
  • General Management: Be responsible for overall execution, operations, growth, and financial performance of the venture
  • Strategic Partnerships and Deal-Making: Secure strategic partnerships and pilot agreements with RESs
  • Capital Strategy: Lead fundraising efforts, moving from early-stage equity to project-based debt and infrastructure financing
  • Regulatory Navigation: Act as the primary liaison with energy boards and utilities to ensure venture compliance
  • Stakeholder Management: Liaise with venture board, investors, regulatory bodies, B2B and B2C customers, partners, business ecosystem

Requirements

  • 7+ years as a senior leader/general manager in energy markets or utilities; direct experience working in RESs and a deep understanding of RES trading and economics are a massive advantage
  • Deep knowledge of the Philippine energy ecosystem, regulation and stakeholders
  • Quick to learn about new technologies, and able to adjust and pivot when presented with new information such as regulatory limitations, market feedback, technological innovations, etc.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive strategic initiatives
  • Ability to inspire and motivate employees towards shared vision and goals, demonstrated by exceptional team culture built
  • Advanced communication skills and stakeholder engagement with internal (e.g. Board, C-suite) and external stakeholders (e.g. investors, commercial partners, and B2B and B2C customers)
  • Entrepreneurial, curious, and deeply passionate about making a difference towards some of the world's most important problems and opportunities, especially in the energy sector

  • Network of contacts in venture capital/private equity, regulatory bodies, power sector stakeholders, business communities, consumer groups
  • Prior fundraising experience or board-level engagement with tech or climate-focused investors
