Job Description

Job Summary

The Engineering Specialist is responsible for providing technical, analytical, and engineering support in project planning, process improvement, cost estimation, and operational efficiency. The role involves analyzing engineering requirements, preparing technical and cost-related reports, coordinating with different departments, and ensuring that engineering activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze engineering requirements, project specifications, drawings, and technical documents.
  • Assist in the planning, development, and improvement of engineering processes and procedures.
  • Prepare cost estimates, quotations, material take-offs, and bill of quantities when required.
  • Analyze project costs, materials, labor, equipment, and other related expenses.
  • Monitor and evaluate actual project costs against approved budgets and estimates.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, minimize waste, and increase productivity.
  • Conduct technical and operational analysis to support engineering and business decisions.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, reports, presentations, and other technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with Production, Operations, Procurement, Sales, Finance, and Project teams to ensure accurate project requirements and costing.
  • Review material specifications and recommend suitable materials or alternative solutions when applicable.
  • Assist in evaluating project feasibility, resource requirements, and potential cost implications.
  • Monitor project or process performance and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
  • Ensure that engineering activities comply with company policies, quality standards, and applicable safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of engineering data, costing information, process documentation, and project files.
  • Perform other engineering-related tasks and duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Industrial, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or a related field.
  • With 1–3 years of relevant experience in engineering, process improvement, cost estimation, project engineering, or a related field.
  • Fresh graduates with strong analytical and technical skills may also be considered.
  • Knowledge of cost estimation, process analysis, material costing, and project documentation is an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, engineering software, or ERP systems is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Willing to coordinate with different departments and handle multiple projects or tasks.
