As an Engineering Manager, you will lead the team shaping how merchants accept payments face-to-face, with a strong focus on POS terminals and in-store experiences. This is a high-impact role where you will define the technology roadmap, scale merchant platforms, and drive modern engineering practices—including the responsible use of AI tools to accelerate delivery and improve quality. What You Will Do:

  • Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team focused on POS terminals and face-to-face payment platforms
  • Define and execute the technical roadmap for in-store payment systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security
  • Drive end-to-end delivery of terminal software, including feature development, certification readiness, rollout planning, and lifecycle management
  • Partner closely with Product, Business, Operations, Risk, and Compliance teams to prioritise and deliver merchant-focused solutions
  • Ensure strong production stability through effective monitoring, incident response, and operational preparedness
  • Strengthen engineering discipline across code quality, testing, and delivery practices, including the use of AI-assisted development tools
  • Champion security, compliance, and audit readiness, aligning with applicable industry standards for card-present payments
  • Build team capability through coaching, hiring, and performance management while fostering accountability and collaboration
  • Continuously modernize the platform to support evolving merchant needs and emerging technologies

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Established software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or people management role
  • Proven experience delivering payment solutions, ideally in POS terminals, face-to-face payments, or merchant platforms
  • Strong track record of leading cross-functional initiatives across Product, Engineering, and business teams
  • Solid understanding of system reliability, production support, and operational excellence
  • Familiarity with security, compliance, and audit requirements in card-present payment environments
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (preferably AWS)
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban
  • Experience in Android or mobile development is a plus
  • Exposure to or adoption of AI-enabled development tools is an advantage
