Job Description

Key Responsibilities

1. Plant & Manufacturing Engineering

  • Oversee the engineering design, layout, and operation of production lines, process equipment, and facility systems (HVAC, water treatment, compressed air, boilers, electrical distribution) to support uninterrupted toll manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure equipment and facilities meet current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), FDA/BAI, and other regulatory requirements applicable to animal health and veterinary product manufacturing.
  • Manage energy efficiency, utilities consumption, and sustainability initiatives across plant operations.

2. Maintenance & Reliability

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve a preventive and predictive maintenance (PM/PdM) program for all production, packaging, and facility equipment.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce unplanned downtime and equipment failures.
  • Oversee spare parts inventory management, ensuring critical spares are available while optimizing carrying costs.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for major equipment breakdowns and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Manage maintenance budgets, contractor/vendor relationships, and service level agreements for outsourced maintenance work.

3. Projects & CAPEX Management

  • Lead capital expenditure planning, justification, and execution for new equipment installation, facility expansion, and process improvement projects.
  • Manage project scope, timeline, budget, and quality for engineering projects from feasibility through commissioning and validation.
  • Coordinate with external contractors, equipment suppliers, and regulatory bodies on facility upgrades, new line installations, and expansion initiatives.
  • Conduct cost-benefit and ROI analyses for proposed capital projects and present recommendations to senior management.
  • Ensure all new installations and modifications undergo proper validation/qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) before turnover to operations.

4. Leadership, Safety & Compliance

  • Build, mentor, and manage the engineering and maintenance team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Champion a strong safety culture; ensure compliance with occupational health and safety (OSH) standards, environmental regulations, and internal safety protocols across all engineering activities.
  • Support internal and external audits (regulatory, quality, safety) related to facilities and engineering systems.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, Admin and Security.
  • Prepare and present engineering performance reports, budgets, and project updates to executive leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Must be a Licensed Mechaninacl Engineer
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, animal health, veterinary products, feed manufacturing, or a related regulated manufacturing industry is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience managing preventive maintenance programs, capital projects, and cross-functional teams.
  • Working knowledge of GMP, FDA/BAI regulatory requirements, and validation protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ) is highly desirable.
  • Strong project management skills; PMP certification is a plus.
