JOB SUMMARY
The Engineering and General Services Manager is responsible for overseeing engineering projects, facilities management, maintenance operations, and general services across the organization. The role serves as the owner's representative in ensuring that all projects, infrastructure, equipment, and service providers meet quality, safety, cost, and operational requirements. The position manages project planning, cost control, contractor and supplier performance, asset maintenance, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations to support efficient business operations and long-term asset sustainability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and oversee engineering, facilities, maintenance, and general services operations across all company sites.
- Act as the owner's representative in project planning, execution, monitoring, and completion to ensure compliance with approved specifications, timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Prepare, review, and validate detailed cost estimates, budgets, and project costing based on approved designs, plans, and technical specifications.
- Review and verify contract quantities, project scope, and work procedures against approved contract documents and project requirements.
- Manage the procurement, evaluation, and performance monitoring of contractors, suppliers, and service providers involved in engineering and facilities projects.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, contractors, and suppliers to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs for company assets, facilities, and equipment.
- Monitor project progress and maintenance activities, identifying risks, delays, and cost variances while implementing appropriate corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Collaborate with Farm Operations, Dairy Operations, Ice Cream Operations, Planning and Logistics, HR, Procurement, and other departments to support operational requirements and facility improvements.
- Supervise and provide direction to the General Services Supervisor and Maintenance Technicians to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
- Prepare and present project updates, maintenance reports, cost analyses, and operational recommendations to Management.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost optimization, and asset reliability enhancement.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned in support of engineering, facilities, and operational objectives.
QUALIFICATION GUIDES
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or any related engineering field.
- Professional Engineering license is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in engineering project management, facilities management, construction management, maintenance operations, or related fields.
- Experience supervising technical teams, contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, engineering standards, building systems, and facilities maintenance practices.
- Experience in cost estimation, budgeting, contract administration, and vendor management.
- Knowledge of occupational safety, environmental regulations, and quality assurance standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and engineering-related software tools.
- Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and support operational and business objectives.
