Job Summary:
The Engineer III – Manufacturing Engineer is a senior level engineer responsible for supporting and executing complex manufacturing engineering activities for weldment and precision parts from customer drawings through production release. This role works closely with the Lead Engineer III and Engineering Manager to ensure successful development of manufacturing processes, SAP routing setup, and production readiness. The Engineer III provides advanced technical expertise, supports site capability confirmation, and ensures execution of manufacturing deliverables, while also mentoring junior engineers and supporting cross-functional coordination.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and release manufacturing drawings, CAD models, and production blueprints using SolidWorks and Bluebeam
- Lead the development of manufacturing processes from customer requirements through production release, including SAP routing and MES setup.
- Interpret and set up all Large Outer Diameter (LOD) parts and UHP parts.
- Ensure manufacturing documentation is complete and compliant, including OMS, BKM, SOPs.
- Support tooling and fixturing design for production builds.
- Provide technical support for Engineering Hold, Engineering Request Logs, and production escalations.
- Support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in coordination with Customer Quality Engineers.
- Prepare and submit Agile Engineering Change Requests (ECR) as needed.
- Review and approve Agile Engineering Change Orders (ECR/ECO) for implementation.
- Provide technical guidance and support to Engineer I and II team members.
- Collaborate with Program Management, Quality, Estimating, and Production teams to ensure successful execution of manufacturing projects.
- Submit SPS (Supplier Problem Sheet) for supplier issues and deviations.
- Support the Lead Engineer III in execution of complex engineering projects.
- Support project execution, reporting, and engineering deliverables in alignment with Lead Engineer III direction.
- Support process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify manufacturing issues and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support business objectives.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing engineering processes including weldment fabrication, machining, and assembly.
- Proficient in SolidWorks, Bluebeam, and other CAD/design software.
- Working knowledge of SAP, Agile, and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Ability to read, interpret, and create engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of BOMs, routing processes, and manufacturing documentation control.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and engineering standards.
- Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) processes and production validation.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to support process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills when working with cross-functional teams and customers.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to mentor and support Engineer I and II team members.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting project deadlines.
- Strong ownership, accountability, and execution mindset.Educational/Certification Requirement:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience in a related field.
- Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of relevant manufacturing experience may also be considered.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or related technical certifications are an advantage.
Experience Requirement:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering environment. (7 years for diploma holders)
- Experience in weldment fabrication, machining, assembly, or semiconductor manufacturing is preferred.
- Hands-on experience using SolidWorks, Bluebeam, SAP, Agile, and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Strong experience in creating and releasing manufacturing drawings, CAD models, and production documentation.
- Hands-on experience with SAP routing, MES systems, and Agile Engineering Change processes (ECR/ECO).
- Experience supporting production builds, process improvements, and troubleshooting manufacturing issues.
- Experience supporting First Article Inspection (FAI) and production qualification activities.
- Knowledge of tooling and fixture design is an advantage.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including Production, Quality, Supply Chain and Program Management.
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior engineers (Engineer I and II level).
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple complex priorities.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to identify issues and recommend practical solutions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers, production teams, and customers.
- Adaptable and open to change in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
