Job Purpose:
The Software Asset Management Engineer will join the IT Asset Management (ITAM) Group, overseeing Software assets throughout their life cycle. This role ensures effective management, optimization, and compliance with all regulations and policies. The candidate will collaborate with various teams at Microchip Technology Inc. and report to the IT Asset Manager in the Philippines.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Software Asset Management (SAM) program by helping track software assets through acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and retirement.
- Review software usage and installation data to help identify unused or underutilized software for possible reclamation or reallocation.
- Assist in maintaining software records in ServiceNow SAM Professional, including discovery, normalization, license rights, entitlements, allocations, and compliance information.
- Help track software license agreements, entitlements, renewals, and audit information to support compliance with software agreements and internal policies.
- Support ServiceNow software catalog requests, approvals, reclamation workflows, and software request processes under guidance from senior team members.
- Prepare basic reports and dashboards on software usage, compliance status, and cost trends for review by the ITAM team.
- Contribute to ITAM process improvements by identifying data issues, documentation gaps, and opportunities to improve day-to-day operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
- 0–2 years of experience in IT Asset Management, Software Asset Management, IT support, or a related IT operations role.
- Basic understanding of Software Asset Management concepts, including software inventory, license tracking, compliance, and software lifecycle activities.
- Familiarity with common software licensing models and major software publishers such as Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, or similar vendors is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of IT technologies, including hardware, software, servers, and end-user devices.
- Working knowledge or hands-on exposure to ITSM or ITAM tools such as ServiceNow, Ivanti, or similar platforms.
- Good Excel and data handling skills, including basic reporting, data review, and pivot tables.
- IAITAM CSAM or ITIL Foundation certification is an advantage.
- Good communication skills in English, with the ability to work with local and global teams.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and willing to learn ITAM processes, tools, and best practices.
