The Energy Modeler is responsible for performing energy modeling analysis for 179D tax deductions and ENERGY STAR programs using DOE-approved software. The role includes reviewing client data, ensuring compliance with building codes, preparing documentation for IRS/FTB, and communicating technical findings to clients and teams.
Duties and responsibilities, as they align with Ryan's Key Results
People
- Create a positive team member experience through reliable collaboration and proactive communication.
- Participate in code reviews for relevant tax and engineering resources within the team environment.
- Articulate documentation and resource needs to support internal team members.
- Organize and maintain a working backlog of commercial building energy models.
- Clearly communicate data-driven engineering results to team members managing client relationships.
Client
- Analyze and utilize a variety of construction documentation (drawings, specifications, etc.)
- Produce compliant energy modeling analyses using Microsoft Excel, Ekotrope, and other DOE-approved software packages.
- Compute and quantify annual utility consumption of high-profile commercial and residential buildings.
- Research, analyze, and understand relevant internal revenue codes, treasury regulations, & tax court cases.
- Compose detailed reporting for client-facing deliverables and respond to follow-up inquiries.
Value
- Review data in alignment with internal information and data security policies, best practices & client requirements.
- Promote understanding of engineering and analysis trends, as relevant to energy modeling best practices.
- Collaborate with project management, field services, and sales teams to generate high-quality studies comprising thoroughly documented analyses.
- Document, review, and assemble comprehensive work product for review by IRS, FTB, or other authorities having jurisdiction.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Architecture, or related field required.
- Candidate who is pursuing a Professional Engineering/Architecture license preferred.
- ASHRAE BEMP, HERS Rater, or similar certification a plus.
- Previous work experience in the AEC industry is a plus
- Good communication and writing skills are required.
Computer Skills
- Previous experience with AutoCAD/Energy Modeling is a plus.
- Primary modeling software includes eQuest, TRACE 3D, and EnergyPlus.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Certificates And Licenses
- Engineering/Architecture Professional license.
- ASHRAE BEMP or similar certification.
Work Environment
- Current work hours are 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM (Manila Time).
- Shift change is anticipated depending on US work hours/time zone and business need.
- Candidate should be willing to work any shift.
- A reasonable amount of overtime will be required if necessary.
- Standard indoor working environment.
- Position requires regular interaction with employees in India and the US via e-mail and telephone.
