Job Description
- Management and review of the enhancement, development, regular back-testing, and calibration of all relevant market models for both existing and new markets.
- Management and review of regularly updated short (one year), medium-term (five years), andlong-term market outlook with the corresponding market price forecast through in-depth understanding and extensive analysis considering updates on generator participants relevant operational constraints. This shall cover significant drivers including but not limited to structural and regulatory changes, power consumption behavior, fuel costs, hydrological conditions, and the portfolio of participants with consideration of the development of existing and new technologies, particularly on costs and technological advancements. Furthermore, this shall include sensitivity analyses on spot market prices and any financial decision support tools as deemed necessary with possible recommendations on revenue maximization for planning purposes with an in-depth outlook on the market and consideration of SNAP plant-specific operational constraints & capability.
- Management and review of the development and maintenance of methodologies and tools necessary for thermal plant availability profiling, demand forecasting, fuel price projections, and other significant drivers affecting market prices.
- Management and review of the preparation of financial decision-support tools necessary for corporate strategic planning, financial valuation of projects, expansions, mergers and acquisitions, refinancing activities, and refurbishments.
- Provide strategic directions in the overall conduct, sustainability, and business continuity within the Energy Economics team consistent with the strategic directions of the company, and technical/technological trends in the industry.
Technical Competencies:
Market Analysis - Knowledge of the electricity spot market and its dynamics, and translate this into a representative model to forecast possible future movements or scenarios of these parameters individually and holistically, and provide sound and coherent economic, technical, financial, and riskanalyses and recommendations.
Market Intelligence - Knowledge of and ability to identify, source and validate relevant market
information, through possible networks or channels, such as but not limited to power plant data,
pipeline of capacity investments, spot market data, macroeconomic data, and climate forecasts thatare critical in producing market price and revenue forecasts.
Optimization and Market Simulation Tools (SDDP/Plexos/Crystal Ball) - Knowledge and
understanding of mathematical optimization, statistical, probabilistic, power flow concepts and the
ability to use applicable simulation tools such as SDDP, PLEXOS, and Crystal Ball to create a model of the electricity market.
Macro Economics - Ability to understand the behavior of the economy in general, its components
and factors including but not limited to the relationship of the role of fiscal and monetary policies,
level of investment activities, national production, global fuel prices and on how it affects energy
consumption and the electricity market on a short to long term period.
Corporate Revenue Finance - Knowledge and application of financial principles required to
formulate, set, and analyze corporate revenue targets considering industry dynamics in order to
achieve business goals and mission.
