ABOUT THE ROLE
The End-User Patch Management Expert will be tasked with designing, deploying, configuring, and supporting desktop technologies in a distributed environment. This role includes responsibilities for software distribution, patch management, and the creation and deployment of software packages to workstations. Additionally, the role involves handling security-related activities, such as patching, remediations and decommissioning applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage the inventory of registered assets within the endpoint management solution, ensuring all assets are properly registered and retired.
- Regularly update existing enterprise application packages within the software repository.
- Create, build, test, and deploy new software packages.
- Perform regular patching activities to maintain system integrity and security.
- Identify and remediate non-compliant endpoints, including patch remediations, encryption, anti-virus, and other compliance requirements.
- Develop remediation or distribution packages as needed.
- Extract and perform regular or ad-hoc compliance reporting of endpoints.
- Identify and remediate outdated software.
- Ensure end points are compliant with security standards.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in end-user compliance and remediation.
Essential Skills and Expertise
- At least 3 years of experience in systems administration or a similar end-user support role.
- Experienced in configuring and administering Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune), including device enrollment (e.g., AutoPilot), configuration and compliance policies, app management, mobile device management, and endpoint security configurations.
- Proficiency in administering Manage Engine Endpoint Central (formerly Desktop Central).
- Experience in managing and supporting Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
- Proficient in knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell, particularly with Windows and Microsoft Graph PowerShell modules.
- Expertise in managing and supporting Windows operating systems.
- Strong understanding of the ITILv4 framework and methodologies.
- Basic knowledge of networking within the TCP/IP model, including IPv4 addressing, TCP and UDP protocols, and common application layer protocols such as DNS.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to translate complex technical items to lay audiences.
- Understanding of the Essential Eight Security Framework is an advantage.
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or Computer Science.
- Highly desired, industry certifications (e.g. ITIL, Microsoft Certified: Microsoft 365 Administrator, Endpoint Administrator Associate).
