Job Description

The EDI Consultant is a key expert who provides strategic guidance and support for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) activities. This includes analyzing business requirements, designing and implementing EDI solutions, mapping data, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. By optimizing data exchange processes and enhancing operational efficiency, the consultant drives business success and fosters strong relationships with trading partners.

What the role offers:

  • Analyze business requirements and create detailed EDI specifications and workflows.
  • Design and implement EDI integrations between internal systems and external trading partners.
  • Configure EDI software and communication protocols (AS2, SFTP, etc.).
  • Assist in onboarding new trading partners and maintain EDI maps for various standards.
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance during data transformation and monitor EDI transmissions.
  • Create and maintain documentation for EDI processes and provide expert guidance on best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Conduct testing and validation of EDI documents and lead QA efforts for transactions.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Involved in process improvements and problem-solving initiatives.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3 to 8+ years of experience with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems and processes.
  • Strong knowledge of EDI standards (e.g., ANSI X12, EDIFACT) and protocols (e.g., AS2).
  • Proficient with EDI mapping and translation tools (e.g., Gentran, SAP PI/PO).
  • Familiar with communication protocols like SFTP, FTP, and HTTPS.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and their EDI integration.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., SQL, Java, Python) for customization and automation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Adaptable and willing to learn new technologies.
  • Customer service-oriented with relevant certifications.
  • Industry experience in Retail, Automotive, Healthcare, Logistics, or Finance.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based integration platforms and project management experience.
