Role Objective
The primary objective of this role is to accurately review and interpret electrical plans, complete detailed take-offs, and prepare comprehensive Bills of Quantities (BOQs) to support project estimating and delivery. The role ensures accuracy, consistency, and efficiency in cost estimation and project planning by leveraging Ground Plan and Simpro systems.
Job Responsibilities
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and related project documents.
- Complete accurate take-offs from electrical plans using Ground Plan.
- Compile detailed and accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQ) in line with project requirements.
- Enter, maintain, and manage BOQ data within Simpro for estimating, quoting, and project tracking purposes.
- Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and other team members to ensure accuracy and completeness of take-offs and BOQs.
- Identify and highlight discrepancies, omissions, or risks in drawings and specifications.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant standards, codes, and industry practices.
- Support continuous improvement by suggesting efficiencies in the take-off and estimating process.
Job Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Familiarity with Australian electrical standards and codes (if role is Australia-based).
- Proven experience in electrical estimating, take-offs, or BOQ preparation.
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and analyze electrical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with Ground Plan for take-offs and Simpro for estimating/project management.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting.
- Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
