We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is responsible for the design, analysis, and coordination of electrical systems for a variety of building and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical foundation in electrical engineering principles, building systems design, and applicable codes and standards, while demonstrating the ability to independently manage project tasks, support junior staff, and contribute to successful project delivery.
The Electrical Engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders to develop innovative, code-compliant, and efficient electrical designs that meet project objectives, schedules, and budgets.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply advanced electrical engineering principles, calculations, and design methodologies to project work.
- Interpret applicable codes, standards, regulations, and design criteria, ensuring compliance throughout the design process.
- Prepare and develop electrical engineering calculations, design narratives, technical reports, and work plans.
- Design and coordinate power distribution systems, lighting systems, fire alarm systems, and related electrical infrastructure.
- Develop and review single-line diagrams, riser diagrams, panel schedules, lighting fixture schedules, and project specifications.
- Serve as Engineer of Record for smaller projects and designated portions of larger, more complex projects.
- Review engineering deliverables produced by junior engineers and designers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and quality assurance.
- Independently identify and resolve engineering challenges while escalating highly complex issues when appropriate.
- Manage assigned project scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables with limited supervision.
- Participate in internal project meetings and client coordination meetings, providing technical leadership and design direction.
- Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, structural, and architectural disciplines to ensure fully integrated project solutions.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by delivering high-quality work and exceptional service.
- Support business development efforts through client engagement, proposal support, and technical presentations.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, workflows, processes, and quality control procedures.
- Provide technical support across multiple engineering disciplines to improve overall project outcomes.
- Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and ownership of assigned work and project responsibilities.
- Continue developing leadership, project management, and technical expertise.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent education that qualifies the candidate to pursue the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) and PE (Professional Engineer) examinations.
- Relevant electrical engineering design and field experience.
- Experience working within an Architecture/Engineering (A/E) firm, consulting engineering firm, construction contractor, or similar professional environment.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and other industry-standard engineering software.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems design, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and fire alarm systems.
- Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and industry best practices.
- Comprehensive understanding of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems that require electrical power and the ability to coordinate those requirements within the electrical design.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
