Day-to-day, you'll work closely with teams across the business (Engineering, Project Management, Construction, Tests and Commissioning teams).
We'll look to you for:
TheElectrical Engineeris responsible for supporting the design, engineering coordination, procurement, planning, and installation activities related to outdoor lighting systems. The role ensures that all engineering deliverables, equipment supplies, and technical interfaces are developed and executed in compliance withAlstom standards, project specifications, applicable codes, and quality requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the design and development of outdoor lighting systems and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Coordinate with internal engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure effective technical integration and project execution.
- Provide procurement support by reviewing technical specifications, evaluating supplier submissions, and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Assist in project planning activities, including scheduling, resource coordination, and progress monitoring.
- Support installation and commissioning activities by providing technical guidance and resolving engineering issues.
- Ensure all equipment, materials, and engineering deliverables meet project quality, safety, and performance standards.
- Apply knowledge of installation methodologies, construction practices, and site execution requirements to support successful project delivery.
- Monitor technical interfaces and coordinate design changes to minimize risks and maintain project objectives.
Required Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, particularly in outdoor lighting systems.
- Understanding of installation methodologies, construction sequencing, and field execution practices.
- Experience in engineering coordination, procurement processes, and contractor management.
- Ability to review technical documents, drawings, specifications, and engineering deliverables.
- Strong communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with applicable industry standards, regulations, and Alstom engineering requirements.
Engineering & Design
- Develop and review detailed designs for railway power supply systems, including:
- Low Voltage (LV) distribution systems
- Earthing and bonding systems
- Lighting pole erection
- Cable routing and power distribution networks
- Prepare and review engineering documents, specifications, drawings, and design reports.
- Ensure compliance with project requirements, standards, and local regulations.
- Participate in design reviews, technical workshops, and client meetings.
Supply & Procurement Support
- Prepare technical specifications and material requisitions for equipment procurement.
- Evaluate supplier technical submissions and vendor documentation.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure compliance with technical requirements.
- Monitor manufacturing progress, documentation, and delivery schedules.
Interface Management
- Coordinate technical interfaces with civil, track, signaling, telecom teams.
- Resolve design clashes and engineering issues during project execution.
- Support installation teams with technical solutions and engineering clarifications.
Project Execution
- Ensure engineering deliverables are completed according to project schedules.
- Support construction, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Manage design changes, deviations, and technical risks.
- Contribute to cost optimization and value engineering initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Railway Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in electrical design.
- Experience in railway, metro, LRT or infrastructure projects preferred.
- Experience with traction power supply systems and substations is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of railway electrification and power supply systems.
- Familiarity with IEC, EN, IEEE, and local electrical standards.
- Proficiency in:
- AutoCAD
- MS Project
- Microsoft Office Suite
