Electrical Designer – BESS (BESS CAD Designer)

Location: Remote

Schedule: Monday to Friday, Night Shift (PH Time)

Job Description:

As a BESS Electrical Designer, you will be responsible for working closely with our internal team of designers, drafters, and engineers, as well as multi-disciplinary teams, to support the development of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) engineering designs. This role requires strong communication, time management, technical drafting, and problem-solving skills to successfully deliver accurate and high-quality engineering design packages on time and within budget.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to create precise and detailed 2D and 3D computer-aided designs for BESS sites using AutoCAD Civil 3D software. This role requires strong technical drafting expertise, spatial awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and other technical professionals in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Essential Responsibilities

· Collaborate with internal and external multi-disciplinary teams to create precise electrical engineering designs for utility-scale BESS projects.

· Create detailed 2D and 3D designs using primarily AutoCAD Civil 3D software while preparing drawings based on project specifications and client requirements.

· Review and understand equipment specifications, component requirements, and technical documentation related to BESS electrical systems.

· Ensure all project drawings comply with RRC internal standards, industry regulations, applicable codes, and engineering best practices.

· Participate in initiatives to improve the quality, consistency, and overall presentation of BESS design deliverables and department standards.

· Participate in project meetings and provide regular progress updates to managers, engineers, clients, and project stakeholders.

· Maintain high ethical and professional standards while fostering strong relationships with internal teams and external clients.

· Continuously develop technical skills and stay current with evolving CAD technologies, design practices, and industry standards to support professional growth and company advancement.

· Attend or complete required safety training and follow company safety standards, procedures, and guidelines.

· Other responsibilities as assigned.

Must Have

· Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering technology, Engineering Technology, related engineering field, or equivalent professional experience.

· Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of engineering design experience using AutoCAD or related CAD software.

· Strong physical design experience with excellent spatial awareness and the ability to visualize complex 3D systems while designing in 2D environments.

· Proficiency in AutoCAD required; experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.

· Strong understanding and practical use of geographic systems and/or GIS software.

· Knowledge of low- to medium-voltage electrical power systems required.

· Strong technical verbal communication and technical writing skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams.

· Ability to communicate effectively during online meetings and project coordination using Microsoft Teams or similar collaboration platforms.

· Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical literature, specification sheets, engineering plans, dimensioned drawings, and single-line diagrams.

· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.

· A strong command of the English language.

Nice to Have

· Knowledge and experience with utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

· Knowledge of solar PV, wind power, or other renewable energy electrical systems is highly preferred.

· Understanding of civil design concepts including grading, roads, drainage, and site development related to electrical infrastructure projects.

· Knowledge of structural steel, concrete foundations, PVC conduit installation, and related electrical construction practices.

· Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering consulting teams or EPC project environments.
