We are seeking a skilled Electrical Design Engineer based in the Philippines (remote) to lead and coordinate electrical design efforts across diverse construction projects. This role involves developing high-quality, code-compliant designs that align with client visions and project goals, while ensuring adherence to safety regulations and industry standards. The engineer will collaborate closely with architectural, engineering, and construction teams, participate in site assessments and early project planning, and contribute to cost estimation, bill of materials preparation, and execution strategies.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop electrical system designs for various construction projects, ensuring compliance with quality control standards and safety regulations.
- Review and evaluate engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Engage in discussions with the team regarding preliminary scope definition, focusing on practical and technical parameters of the project/facility, physical site conditions, and understanding the client's position on the quality versus cost continuum.
- Ensure the project scope is accurately captured and reflected in the design, reducing the need for major revisions.
- Document preliminary scope findings and present them to the project team for integration into design processes.
- Develop and prepare an electrical checklist for defining the preliminary scope.
- Oversee and manage various aspects of electrical project design, including camp design, master planning, conceptual layouts, building specifications, and the design of accommodation, dining, recreation, and medical facilities.
- Coordinate a range of constructions and refurbishments, ensuring all electrical design elements meet project specifications and stakeholder requirements.
- Apply electrical engineering principles to assess and optimize system functionality and sustainability.
- Familiarize with other disciplines of MEP and Civil works to ensure seamless integration within the overall project design.
- Achieve a seamless transition from design to operational phases.
- Assist in developing project pricing and cost estimates.
- Generate detailed bills of materials for project components.
- Determine efficient means and methods for electrical installations and project execution.
- Contribute to the development of operational strategies and improvement initiatives.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on design assessments, findings, and recommendations.
- Track and record project data, including material lists.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in electrical design engineering and project coordination, including experience with various constructions and refurbishments.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, BS and International standards and codes; knowledge of US codes is a must.
- Familiarity with MEP works and their integration into architectural design.
- Professional certification in electrical design engineering or project management is a plus.
