Job Description

The Education Operations Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing the operations of Ayala Foundation's education programs, including CENTEX and other education-related initiatives. This role ensures seamless integration with other Foundation pillars and drives the effective development and implementation of strategic education solutions at scale. The incumbent will lead a dedicated team, manage key partnerships, and ensure that all programs are delivered efficiently, on time, and within budget.

Education Management and Leadership

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Foundation's education programs
  • Operationalizes the Education strategy for implementation including communicating a clear vision internally and with external audiences and resource allocation
  • Provides leadership in managing the Education personnel and programs with consideration for organizational priorities including manpower planning, decision-making, recommending to Senior Director as appropriate, and change management and conflict resolution
  • Supervises and mentors staff or project teams, specifically managing their workload vis-à-vis project and organizational requirements to ensure responsiveness to workplans especially critical requests
  • Integrate research insights and best practices into the CENTEX Education programs including impact evaluation
  • Develop and execute clear articulations of the programs – in collaboration with Education Project Leads and staff – including presenting to internal and external audiences for developing partnerships and fundraising.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of teacher and student performance in partner schools
  • Recognize and seize opportunities, proactively taking action to achieve goals without being prompted; anticipating needs, and taking responsibility for one's work and actions.

Business Development

  • Supports the Education Partnerships Manager in developing and executing customized stakeholder management relationships and projects.
  • Supports the writing of proposals, grants or reports for CENTEX Education programs
  • Collaborates with Marketing and External Relations (MER) in the development of donor/partner presentations, promotional materials, website enhancements, campaigns, and other promotional interventions required to execute the Big Bets in Education strategy primarily and also AFI's overall strategy.
  • Ensures seamless engagement and coordination with private and public sectors to sustain program implementation

Project Management

  • Oversees overall plan of Big Bets in Education. This includes supervising Program Leads and facilitating thoughtful conversations towards the completion of PPIF requirements throughout the year including the required research, cost-benefit analysis, and budgets.
  • Monitors progress of program implementation in the areas of assignment supporting Project Leads in project planning, design and execution by providing strategic guidance, reviewing key deliverables, MEAL activities, and ensuring timely implementation of action plans.
  • Supports the Education Partnerships Manager to ensure seamless partner management with private and public sector to sustain program implementation.
  • Provides inputs to and collaborates with Education Consultants on project expectations, directions and implementation.
  • Communicates with Senior Director on current needs, issues and concerns being encountered and makes appropriate and feasible recommendations based on an analysis of the situation and key considerations.
  • Plans, develops, and implements strategies for identifying and generating funding and/or resource opportunities for program activities, to include development of grant and other fundraising proposals.
  • Oversees and/or coordinates the collection, compilation and analysis of program activity data; develops, writes, edits and presents comprehensive statistical and narrative program reports and evaluations.
  • Develops operating goals and objectives for the unit; implements and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations, as appropriate to the unit.
  • Collaborate with Project Leads and Finance to develop, finalize, and submit project budgets on schedule, ensuring accuracy and alignment with funding requirements
  • Collaborates with Division (Pillar) Heads and AFI Enabling Functions on executing Education programs and AFI's strategy ; this includes organizing cross-functional discussions for meaningful integration of work and organizational efficiency
  • Ensures cross-program alignment and facilitates collaborative conversations as appropriate

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in Education, Development Studies, Public Administration, or a related field
  • At least 4-5 years of experience in education program management or scaling
  • Prior classroom teaching experience or work with DepEd is strongly preferred
  • Experience working with government (DepEd/LGUs), NGOs, or development sector preferred
  • Strong project management, organizational, and multitasking abilities, with keen attention to detail including supervising direct reports and remote staff
  • Must be willing to work on a hybrid work setup (at least 3x a week on-site) at Makati City with frequent travel to program sites and partner locations.
  • May require flexible hours depending on partner engagements and events
