Job Description

E-commerce / Digital Trading Manager – UK & Ireland

Reports to: Head of Digital Products

Business/Function: Commercial & Customer

Primary Location: SM Aura, BGC Taguig (Hybrid)

Schedule: 4:00 PM - 1:00 AM Manila Time

Industry: Environmental Services / Waste Management

Purpose

The business operates a growing, digitally led transactional service within the environmental services and waste management sector. Its website is a primary customer-facing channel, and we are looking for a Digital Trading Manager who can take end-to-end ownership of the online commercial performance of a key service proposition.

In this role, you will be responsible for growing revenue, improving conversion rates, and driving customer engagement across the digital proposition. You will combine commercial instinct with digital trading expertise, using data to identify opportunities, acting quickly to capture them, and working with product, UX, and marketing colleagues to make lasting improvements to the customer journey.

This is a hands-on, commercially accountable role. You will own the trading calendar, manage on-site merchandising, monitor daily performance, and push for continuous improvement across every metric that matters to the digital business. You will be on-site with the digital product team, close to the decisions that shape how the site performs.

Key Accountabilities

  • Own the digital trading performance of the core transactional service proposition, with accountability for revenue, conversion rate, and customer engagement metrics.
  • Manage the trading calendar, coordinating promotional activity, pricing changes, and product/service updates across the site in line with commercial priorities.
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly trading performance, identifying trends and anomalies and acting quickly to respond.
  • Lead on-site merchandising, including product/service listings, category pages, pricing presentation, availability messaging, and upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Work with the UX and CRO Manager to identify and prioritise conversion optimisation opportunities across the customer journey, from landing page through to order confirmation.
  • Collaborate with the paid media and SEO teams to ensure traffic acquisition activity is aligned with on-site capability and that landing pages are optimised to convert.
  • Provide clear, regular performance reporting to the Head of Digital Products and commercial stakeholders, including analysis of what is driving performance and what action is being taken.
  • Work with the product and development team to brief and prioritise site improvements that will drive commercial outcomes, contributing to sprint planning and backlog grooming.
  • Identify growth opportunities in new geographies, product/service types, or customer segments, and work with the wider team to bring them to market through the digital channel.
  • Stay close to competitor activity and market trends within the industry and related services, feeding insight back into the trading and product strategy.

Areas of Responsibility

Commercial Trading

  • Own and manage the digital trading plan, ensuring the site reflects current pricing, availability, and promotional activity at all times.
  • Identify and act on revenue opportunities including seasonal demand, geographic expansion, and product/service range extension.
  • Manage promotional campaigns end-to-end, from briefing through to live execution and post-campaign analysis.
  • Monitor competitor pricing, positioning, and digital activity and feed this insight into commercial decision making.

Conversion and On-Site Performance

  • Own the conversion funnel from first visit through to completed booking/order, identifying and resolving friction at each stage.
  • Work with the UX and CRO Manager to prioritise and deliver a programme of experimentation and optimisation across key pages.
  • Manage on-site merchandising to ensure product/service presentation, pricing clarity, and availability messaging support conversion.
  • Ensure the customer journey performs well across all devices, with particular focus on mobile.

Customer Engagement

  • Develop and maintain content and messaging across the digital proposition that builds trust, answers customer questions, and supports the buying decision.
  • Work with the CRM and lifecycle team to support post-purchase engagement, including confirmation communications, repeat booking/order prompts, and review generation.
  • Use customer feedback, reviews, and behavioural data to identify unmet needs and brief improvements into the product roadmap.

Data and Reporting

  • Own the performance dashboard for digital trading, tracking conversion rate, average order value, revenue, and engagement metrics.
  • Provide weekly trading updates and monthly in-depth analysis to the Head of Digital Products and commercial leadership.
  • Use GA4, Search Console, and relevant CRM or order management data to build a complete picture of performance across the customer lifecycle.
  • Interrogate data proactively to generate hypotheses and prioritise action, rather than reporting retrospectively.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work on-site as an embedded member of the digital product team, participating in sprint planning and contributing to roadmap prioritisation.
  • Act as the commercial voice in product discussions, ensuring that trading priorities are reflected in development decisions.
  • Partner with operations and customer service teams to ensure on-site commitments around availability, lead times, and service standards are accurate and deliverable.
  • Liaise with marketing colleagues to align campaign activity, paid media landing pages, and email communications with on-site trading priorities.

Experience and Skills

Essential

  • Minimum of 4 years experience in digital trading, e-commerce management, online merchandising, or a similar commercial e-commerce role, with direct accountability for revenue or conversion performance.
  • Demonstrable track record of improving commercial performance through on-site trading activity, including pricing, merchandising, and promotional management.
  • Strong analytical capability, including confident use of GA4 or equivalent analytics platforms to diagnose performance and identify opportunities.
  • Experience managing a trading calendar and coordinating cross-functional activity to deliver against commercial plans.
  • Ability to work at pace, balance multiple priorities, and make sound commercial judgements with incomplete information.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present performance data and trading recommendations clearly to both commercial and technical audiences.
  • Comfortable working on-site as part of a cross-functional digital team within an agile environment.

Preferable

  • Experience in a service-based or transactional e-commerce business, particularly one with variable pricing or availability, such as logistics, utilities, home services, environmental services, or similar sectors.
  • Familiarity with CRO principles and experience collaborating with UX or experimentation teams to improve conversion.
  • Experience with CMS or e-commerce platforms and the ability to make or brief on-site content and merchandising changes directly.
  • Exposure to paid search and SEO performance, with an understanding of how traffic quality affects on-site conversion.
  • Experience using data visualisation tools such as Looker Studio or equivalent to build and maintain trading dashboards.

The Ideal Mindset

Commercially driven – energised by revenue targets and motivated by finding and closing performance gaps.

Analytical and curious – comfortable with data and always asking what the numbers are really saying.

Action-oriented – not content to observe performance trends, but compelled to do something about them.

Collaborative – understands that trading outcomes depend on strong working relationships with product, marketing, and operations.
