Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Draftsperson to support our design team in the preparation of high-quality

Drawings. The role focuses on structural drawings (including detailed drawings for both

concrete and steel structures), permit application drawings, architectural layouts, 3D modelling

using SketchUp, and the preparation of drawings in AutoCAD. The role also requires the ability

to carry out basic structural calculations for simple structural elements in accordance with

Eurocode standards, under the guidance of a structural engineer.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop structural drawings for reinforced concrete and steel structures, including plans, sections, elevations, and detailed construction drawings.
• Produce structural detail drawings such as reinforcement layouts, beam and column details, slab details, and steel connections.
• Prepare permit application drawings in line with Planning Authority requirements and submission standards (training and guidance on local regulations will be provided; prior knowledge of Maltese planning legislation is not required, but would be considered an asset).
• Assist in the preparation of architectural layouts, including space planning, level coordination, and basic architectural detailing.
• Produce and update 3D models using SketchUp to support design development and coordination.
• Ensure all drafting and drawing production is carried out in AutoCAD in accordance with office standards.
• Carry out basic structural calculations for simple elements such as steel beams and simply supported slabs, in accordance with Eurocode requirements, to support design development.
• Update and revise drawings following design changes, client feedback, and authority comments.
• Coordinate architectural and structural drawings to ensure consistency, accuracy, and buildability.
• Maintain organised drawing files, drawing registers, and revision control.
• Assist with drawings for tender and construction stages when required.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Drafting, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience producing structural drawings and details for concrete and steel structures.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (essential); SketchUp experience required for 3D modelling.
• Ability to carry out simple structural calculations (e.g. steel beams, simply supported slabs) in accordance with Eurocode standards.
• Good understanding of building construction methods, structural systems, and detailing principles.
• Familiarity with local Planning Authority submission requirements (or willingness to learn).
• High level of attention to detail and ability to work accurately under deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small, multidisciplinary team.
