Docket Clerk

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable Docket Clerk to join our law firm. This role is essential to the efficient operation of the Docket Office, ensuring that court deadlines, filings, and case-related communications are accurately recorded and monitored.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced legal environment, exercises sound judgment when handling time-sensitive matters, and is committed to maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enter, maintain, and update docket entries, case information, and court deadlines in the firm's docketing and case management systems.
  • Monitor court notices, orders, and correspondence, ensuring all deadlines and required actions are accurately calendared.
  • Assist with the preparation, electronic filing, and physical filing of pleadings and other legal documents under the supervision of attorneys or senior docket personnel.
  • Maintain organized records of court filings, proofs of service, and other docket-related documentation.
  • Notify attorneys, paralegals, and legal staff of upcoming deadlines, court directives, and scheduling updates.
  • Coordinate service of process by preparing necessary documents, liaising with process servers, and tracking service completion.
  • Retrieve filed documents and case information from court systems and respond promptly to internal requests.
  • Provide administrative support to the Docket Office, including scanning, PDF conversion, document organization, and file management.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned to support the firm's litigation and legal operations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in any field.
  • Previous experience in a law firm, court, or legal support environment is an advantage but not required.
  • Familiarity with electronic filing platforms, court portals, and legal docketing systems is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to perform occasional in-person court-related tasks and work beyond regular business hours when required.

Required Skills & Competencies
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • High level of accuracy when handling legal documents and deadline-sensitive information.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of client and firm information.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and propose practical solutions.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and communicate realistic timelines while maintaining a high standard of work.
