The Distribution Head oversees all distribution center activities, including warehouse operations, inventory management, logistics coordination, workforce management, and compliance with company policies. The role focuses on achieving operational excellence, cost efficiency, and high customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily warehouse and distribution center operations.
- Ensure timely receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch of goods.
- Monitor operational performance and implement process improvements.
- Optimize warehouse layout and storage utilization.
- Maintain accurate inventory records.
- Oversee cycle counts and annual physical inventory.
- Minimize inventory discrepancies, losses, and damages.
- Ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO where applicable).
- Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate warehouse personnel.
- Develop supervisors and team leaders.
- Manage workforce scheduling and productivity.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with transportation providers to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Collaborate with procurement, production, and sales teams.
- Resolve operational issues affecting customer service.
- Monitor key delivery performance metrics.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Maintain warehouse security standards.
- Enforce company policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Lead safety training and incident investigations.
- Track and analyze warehouse KPIs.
- Prepare operational reports for senior management.
- Develop action plans to improve productivity and reduce costs.
- Lead Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives where applicable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7–10 years of experience in warehouse, logistics, or supply chain operations.
- 3–5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Strong knowledge of inventory control and warehouse best practices.
