Main activities and responsibilities includes:
- Accountable for business and project delivery of high-quality engineering design and drafting of major roads and other transport projects and meet revenue projection and client expectation.
- Provides necessary technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to the bridges and civil structures design and drafting staff to assure total quality of all engineering efforts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Resource staff ahead of time to align with the forecasted pipeline.
- Be the managerial interface between offices.
- Join regional team meetings.
- Report on teams forecasted utilisation weekly and periodically.
- Maintain an inclusive, dynamic and high performing culture that is above our competitors.
- Develop the appropriate quality engineering solutions, coordinate the activities of other team members and assist in production as needed to meet schedules.
- Keeps abreast of new methods and developments relevant to area of expertise.
- Responsible for allocating resources for project needs.
- May serve as the Project Engineer or Project Manager when dictated by the project size / complexity or upon management's request.
- Ensure that Design Standards are met and that design quality procedures are observed.
- Conscientiously works towards the team's quality objectives and adheres to the company's quality policy.
- Looks into business opportunities for WSP or assist Transport Manager in proposals related to line of expertise.
- Evaluates technical and logistic problem/s of staff to ensure smooth flow of operation and maintain high standard and quality of work.
- Present to local staff consistently and to lead office at least 2 times a year to maintain your profile within the business.
- Undertakes training programs to improve/ strengthen technical capability of the team and encourage active participation of staff in different professional organization.
- Evaluate staff performance in line with HR procedures.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the Regional Executive/ Regional Director in line with expertise, qualification or discipline.
- Develop the Digital Engineering capabilities of the team.
Qualifications (minimum and desirable):
- Bachelor's degree or appropriate qualified experience, preferably licensed civil engineer
- At least ten (15) years of work experience in a consultancy environment.
- Clear understanding of construction processes to ensure alignment with design process
- Successfully managed and led multiple diverse teams of numerous sizes
Experience, Capabilities & Competencies:
- At least fifteen (15+) years relevant work experience.
- Proven structural design experience for bridges, ground support, tunnel linings, and/or retaining walls.
- Proven knowledge in using software for structural analysis e.g. MIDAS Civil, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design (ASBD), STAAD, SPACE GASS or similar software packages e.g. Microstran, CSI Bridge
- Proficiency in Projectwise, Blue Beam Revu, AutoCAD/Microstation/Revit, MS Word and MS Excel is also expected.
- Competent and experienced in providing technical expertise across a broad range of projects without supervision.
- High-level skills in applying safety in design practices and processes.
- Knowledgeable of local and/or international design standards.
- Preferably with experience in international projects
- Proven ability to provide key technical expertise across a broad range of high-profile projects. Strong experience in a consultancy environment.
- Advanced knowledge in the application of Digital Engineering/BIM processes and workflows on projects.
- Demonstrated competence in Digital Engineering and BIM-based inter-disciplinary coordination, constructability and/or project controls.
- Consistently demonstrates good consultant principles
- Demonstrated experience in preparing and reviewing complex technical project reports in line with Delegation of Authority (DOA). Has a quality mindset.
- Competent in monitoring and managing the scope (including variations) of multiple projects of varying complexity and size and guiding the work of others
- Demonstrated multiple instances of delivering the best client outcomes/options which have saved the client costs/time and addressed their requirements.
- High-level skills in applying safety in design practices and processes. Mentors others in principles.
- Complies with applicable legislation, standards, guidelines, and project specifications. Mentor others.
- Competent in identifying and managing risk on substantial projects.
- Extensive experience in client relationships. Ability to communicate complex technical issues to clients and guide the client through regulatory processes.
- Extensive experience in applying and coaching others in QA and OH&S systems.
- Built technical, operational, and commercial capabilities of others through training, mentoring, and coaching.
- Experience in supervising graduates and managing professionals, seniors and associates.
