Job Description

Job Summary

The Technical Services Director is responsible for leading the organization's technical services function, ensuring operational excellence, asset reliability, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency across all business units, stores, and facilities.

This role oversees engineering, maintenance, construction, facilities, and technical support operations to ensure that all sites are safe, functional, and aligned with business growth requirements.

The role partners closely with Operations, Development, Supply Chain, Finance, and external contractors to deliver store openings, renovations, preventive maintenance programs, and technical solutions that enhance business performance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Services Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute the company's technical services strategy aligned with business expansion and operational goals.
  • Lead the Technical Services team by establishing standards, processes, governance frameworks, and performance metrics.
  • Provide technical expertise and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, store uptime, and operational efficiency.

2. Facilities & Asset Management

  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all stores, offices, warehouses, and facilities.
  • Establish asset management frameworks to maximize equipment life cycle and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure proper maintenance standards for critical restaurant equipment, HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, refrigeration, and other technical assets.
  • Monitor maintenance costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization.

3. Store Development & Project Management

  • Lead technical requirements for new store openings, renovations, relocations, and expansion projects.
  • Review architectural, engineering, and construction plans to ensure compliance with operational requirements.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, contractors, and technical deliverables.
  • Ensure successful handover of completed projects to Operations teams.

4. Compliance, Safety & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
  • Develop technical standards, guidelines, and procedures across all locations.
  • Conduct technical audits and implement corrective action plans.
  • Partner with Safety and Operations teams to mitigate technical risks.

5. Vendor & Contractor Management

  • Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Negotiate contracts, service agreements, and technical solutions.
  • Ensure vendor performance meets quality, cost, and service level expectations.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and equipment solutions.

6. Business Partnership & Support

  • Collaborate with Operations, Real Estate, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to support business growth.
  • Provide technical feasibility assessments for expansion initiatives.
  • Support crisis management involving facilities, equipment failures, and operational disruptions.
  • Provide leadership updates on technical performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial Engineering, or related field).
  • Professional license (e.g., Registered Engineer) is preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in technical services, engineering, facilities management, construction, or maintenance operations.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role managing technical teams and large-scale projects.
  • Experience in QSR, retail, hospitality, commercial facilities, or multi-site operations is preferred.
  • Proven experience managing store openings, renovations, and technical infrastructure projects.
