Our client in the BPO space is searching for a Director of Labor Relations and Employment Law who will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all litigation, labor relations and employment law matters across a designated region. Responsible for ensuring regional compliance with relevant laws and regulations while implementing best practices in employment practices and managing a team of legal professionals. This role involves representing the organization in high-stakes legal proceedings and shaping labor relations strategies that align with global corporate objectives. You will manage the performance, engagement, and development of your team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Develop and execute the strategic plan for labor relations and employment law across the entire region, ensuring alignment with global corporate goals.
● Lead and mentor a diverse team of internal and external legal members across multiple countries within the region.
● Oversee the provision of expert advice and representation on complex employment laws and regulations, minimizing to eliminating reliance on external counsel.
● Manage the regional budget for labor relations and employment law, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost control.
● Serve as the primary point of contact for senior leadership on critical labor relations and employment law matters, including high-profile litigation and media escalations.
● Foster relationships with key stakeholders, such as government officials, union representatives, and industry peers, to stay ahead of emerging trends and potential issues.
● Drive ongoing improvements in litigation, labor relations practices and employment law compliance across the region.
Qualifications:
● At least 12 years of experience in legal roles related to litigation, labor and employment law, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
● A Law degree from an accredited institution.
● An active Bar license.
● Experience working in global BPO, KPO, Contact Center, or Shared Services companies
● Proficiency in oral and written English.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
● Expert knowledge of legal codes, government regulations, precedents, and court procedures for the assigned region.
● Expert ability to articulate complex legal concepts and strategies clearly and persuasively, both orally and in writing.
● Expert skills in senior stakeholder management and negotiation.
● Expert skills in legal proceedings and litigation.
● Strong financial acumen and the ability to solve complex problems by leveraging internal and external resources.
● Strong AI proficiency and willingness to learn and develop new ways to embed AI into legal workflows to improve productivity and effectiveness.
