Job Description

The Director, Global Tax is expected to build a global tax organization of the Jollibee Group that:

  • Aligned with the current business structure/grouping to effectively support the business needs/requirements.
  • Sustainable and agile to cope with the growing business, expansion, and strategic business plans of the Jollibee Group.
  • Provides a wider and deeper bench/talent pool and clear career progression.
  • Ensure and/or addresses succession planning, tax a highly technical role in the Jollibee Group.
  • Establishes clear responsibility and accountability on a per legal entity basis as statutory compliance is tracked and monitored on a per legal entity basis.
  • Ensures balanced-distribution relative to the following:
  • Number of legal entities
  • Size of the businesses; and,
  • Complexity of:
  • Business transactions and operations;
  • Applicable tax laws in the respective jurisdictions; and
  • Dealing with tax authorities relative to tax assessment cases
  • Develops and builds well-rounded tax practitioners handling/gaining expertise in the various tax functions as follows and tax experts in the assigned jurisdictions where the Jollibee Group currently operates and/or plans to operate.

Tax Accounting and Compliance

(1) Ensure accurate and timely filling of the Annual Income Tax Returns (ITRs) of JFC and all its local and foreign subsidiaries.

(2) Review tax-related reports and/or returns prepared and submitted by the Jollibee Group's Accounting Shared Services, Local Accounting like but not limited to the following:

  • Quarterly and Annual Income Tax Returns
  • Deferred Income Tax Assets and Liabilities Schedule
  • Notes to Audited Financial Statements (AFS) related to taxes

(3) Perform Quarterly Analysis of effective tax rates (ETR) and accordingly discuss findings and/or recommendations to improve the Jollibee Group's ETR.

(4) Lead the implementation of applicable new tax rules and regulations to the Jollibee Group to ensure compliance.

Tax Advocacy / Assessment

(1) Leadthe Jollibee Group's strategic responseto tax assessments and regulatory developments, ensuring compliance while advocating for fair and equitable tax treatment.

(2) Review of tax-related reports/reconciliations/analyses prepared and submitted by the Jollibee Group's Tax Shared Services Team like but not limited to the following:

  • Reconciliations and Schedules required by tax and/or customs authoritiesrelative to Tax Audits.
  • Documents for submission to the tax and/or customs examiners relative to tax audits.

(3) Lead the preparation of responses to Notices and Assessments from Tax Authorities both Local and National.

(4) Review and provide strategic inputs to correspondences to tax authorities and court relative to tax assessment cases handled by 3rd party tax counsels.

(5) Discuss, negotiate and resolve tax audit issues relative to tax assessment cases directly with government representatives.

(6) Oversee/managethe 3rd party tax counselshandling the tax assessment cases elevated to the courts.

(7) Mitigate risks and ensure compliance, moving forward by:

  • Recommending mitigation strategies to the noted tax assessment items; and,
  • Monitoring Regulatory changes affecting Jollibee Group's tax positions.

Tax Advisory

(1) Provide strategic and technical tax guidance to support business decisions, corporate transactions, and operational activities, ensuring tax efficiency, compliance, and defensibility of tax positions across jurisdictions, with a strong focus on contract review and risk identification.

(2) Promote tax education and strengthen tax awareness of business units and support units to equip them in their day-to-day operations and contracting with 3rd Party Partners.

(3) Provide technical tax advice and counsel to the shared services tax team and to non-tax support and operations teams on complex tax issues related to their day-to-day tasks and/or operations.

(4) Review and provide advice and guidance on tax-related provisions of contracts entered/transacted by the Jollibee Group.

Tax Management, Planning, and Research

(1) Lead to align global tax position/s with business strategies to maintain competitive advantage and provide long-term shareholder value.

(2) Prepare BIR Ruling Requests, Protests and Legal Brief on complex tax issues which require a broad knowledge of tax laws.

(3) Continuously review tax-related processes and procedures, identify areas for improvement and implement identified process improvements with concerned teams within the Jollibee Group.

(4) Review and research to continuously improve Jollibee Group's structure, compliance, tax positions, and tax cost.

(5) Keep abreast of new tax laws, rules and regulations and:

  • Review and analyze the applicability of new tax rules and regulations to the Jollibee Group.
  • Prepare internal tax memoranda relative to new tax rules and regulations applicable to the Jollibee Group and cascade/provide guidance to concerned Jollibee Group Teams

(6) Develop, maintain, and lead the tax plans and strategies, compliance procedures, and risk assessment frameworks, to ensure effective tax management of the Jollibee Group.

International and transaction tax

(1) Lead to ensure tax-efficient and compliant legal structure of the Jollibee Group relative to the following:

  • Mergers and Acquisitions (M&As)
  • Joint Ventures (JVs)
  • Entering in new markets

(2) Provide advice/guidance on the following:

  • Setting-up of Foreign Operations, including Subsidiary or Branch;
  • Local Tax Exposures arising from permanent establishments (PEs); and,
  • VAT and customs duty implications of cross-border services and movement of goods.

(3) Provide expert guidance on cross-border and transaction-related tax matters, i.e., M&A, Divestments, etc.; ensuring compliance with international tax laws while optimizing tax efficiency and managing risks.

Specialized Tax Areas: Transfer Pricing (TP) & Base Erosion Profit Shifting (BEPS)

(1) Transfer Pricing (TP) develop TP Strategies and ensure Jollibee Group's Compliance with TP Requirements and Policies, like but not limited to the following:

  • Updated TP Documentation
  • All Related Party Transactions (RPTs) within the Jollibee Group are always made on an arms-length basis

(2) Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS)

  • Lead and ensure Jollibee Group's compliance with BEPS
  • Keep abreast on the developments of BEPS especially in jurisdictions where the Jollibee Group currently operate and/or plan to operate.
