Job Description
Velocity Trade Singapore Pte. Ltd. (VTSG) is part of the Velocity Trade group, providing institutional clients with market access and execution services across global markets.
Founded in 2007, Velocity Trade is a leading global broker dealer combining execution with leading technology to serve our international institutional clients. Our diverse client base includes external asset managers, family offices, institutions, hedge funds, and other broker-dealers.
Our business is built on the core principles of integrity, service, risk management and a global orientation. We are a trusted trading partner to corporations and institutions around the globe in multiple asset classes across deliverable FX, equities, commodities, futures, margin products, fixed income, structured products, and AMCs.
This role in Singapore is intended to support growth in the Asia region of institutional equity trading coverage and execution, for existing clients of VTSG, its group and global partners.
Role Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior Sales and Trading individual who is ready to develop and build a local franchise that leverages the existing global franchise and partner network.
In this client-facing role, you will own day-to-day coverage of institutional accounts across Asia and US cash equities. Working closely with Sales, Research, Trading, Operations and Compliance partners, you will originate and execute agency-style cash equity flow, support adoption of execution solutions, and identify franchise growth opportunities while ensuring activities are conducted under the appropriate Singapore licensing, representative and conduct arrangements.
The successful candidate must satisfy all applicable VTSG onboarding, regulatory, competency, fit and proper, and representative notification requirements before conducting any regulated activity.
A competitive remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate, including performance-based incentives and benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and manage cash equity orders across Asia and US markets for buy-side clients, applying appropriate execution tactics and managing trading outcomes versus client objectives
- Partner with internal stakeholders (Sales, Trading, Research, Operations, Compliance, and Technology) to coordinate coverage, improve service levels, and grow trading engagement
- Translate real-time market color, liquidity conditions, and macro/regulatory developments into actionable guidance for clients
- Promote and integrate electronic execution tools and algorithmic strategies; advise clients on venue selection, order types, and workflow enhancements
- Maintain strong awareness of Singapore and regional market structure, trading restrictions, client classification requirements, market conduct obligations, and relevant MAS regulatory developments, ensuring activities remain compliant and aligned with VTSG policies
- Develop and distribute timely sales-trading commentary and content that supports the broader franchise offering
- Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities, including cross-selling of broader products and services where appropriate
- Perform other duties as required and assigned
- Work with Compliance to ensure client solicitation, order handling, execution, communications, record keeping and cross-border arrangements are conducted within VTSG's approved regulatory permissions and supervisory framework
Requirements
- 10+ years of institutional sales trading experience with direct responsibility for Asia and US equities coverage
- Proven track record executing cash equities and vanilla equity products, with at least 5 years of hands-on coverage in the asset manager/hedge fund client segment
- Demonstrated, established relationships with global and regional asset managers and an ability to convert relationships into sustained flow
- Strong understanding of Asia and US market structure, liquidity dynamics, and execution methodologies, including algorithmic trading and portfolio/low-touch workflows
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Working knowledge of OMS/EMS environments and trading connectivity standards (e.g., FIX) and related trading protocols
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills; comfortable operating in a collaborative, high-accountability environment
- Highly organized with strong prioritization skills; able to perform effectively under tight deadlines and during volatile market conditions
- Singapore regulatory readiness required: ability to satisfy MAS representative, fit and proper, competency, examination and CPD requirements applicable to the regulated activities conducted for VTSG; US licences such as Series 7/63 may be helpful for US market familiarity but are not a substitute for Singapore requirements
Relevant Singapore Regulatory Requirements
- Before conducting any regulated activity, the individual must be appropriately appointed, notified or otherwise approved as required under the Singapore Securities and Futures Act framework and MAS representative requirements.
- The candidate must satisfy MAS fit and proper expectations, including honesty, integrity, reputation, competence, capability and financial soundness, and must complete VTSG due diligence, screening and compliance onboarding.
- The candidate must meet applicable competency requirements for representatives, including relevant CMFAS examination, entry and continuing professional development requirements under the MAS competency notice applicable to CMS licence holders and exempt financial institutions.
- The role must observe Singapore conduct, market abuse, AML/CFT, sanctions, client classification, personal account dealing, conflicts management, communications surveillance, complaints handling and record-keeping obligations.
- Any activity undertaken on behalf of, or in coordination with, a foreign broker-dealer or affiliate must be reviewed and approved by Compliance before commencement to ensure the arrangement is permitted and appropriately supervised.
