Job Description
Role: Digital Marketing Intern at Food Computing Academy (FCA)
Location: Remote
Type: Internship
Commitment: Part-time / flexible
Organisation: Food Computing Academy (FCA)
About Food Computing Academy
Food Computing Academy (FCA) is an emerging education and innovation community working at the intersection of food, technology, artificial intelligence, data, science and entrepreneurship.
We help students, food and beverage entrepreneurs, professionals and organisations understand and apply emerging technologies across the food sector.
Our work spans areas such as AI, data science, food safety and regulation, digital transformation, food innovation, entrepreneurship and computational approaches to food science.
We are now looking for Digital Marketing Interns to help us build FCA's digital presence and, importantly, build a genuine community around food, science and technology.
About the role
As a Digital Marketing Intern, you will contribute to FCA's presence across LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook, helping us share ideas, discuss developments in food and technology, connect with people and organisations, and grow our community. This is not simply a role about scheduling promotional posts. We want to create social media channels that people actually want to follow — places where students, researchers, food professionals, entrepreneurs and technology enthusiasts can discover interesting ideas, discuss current issues and connect with others.
You may work on:
- Developing social media content for LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook
- Researching interesting news and developments in food, AI, technology and science
- Identifying emerging trends and topics relevant to FCA's audience
- Turning scientific papers, research findings and industry developments into accessible content
- Creating posts, carousels, short-form videos, reels and other digital content
- Helping develop FCA's content calendar and social media strategy
- Writing captions, headlines and engaging copy
- Researching relevant organisations, researchers, entrepreneurs and industry professionals for potential engagement and collaboration
- Monitoring social media conversations and identifying opportunities for FCA to participate
- Supporting community-building and audience engagement
- Tracking social media performance and identifying what content resonates with different audiences
- Experimenting with AI and digital tools to improve content creation and marketing workflows
- Contributing ideas for new campaigns, series and digital initiatives
What we're looking for
We are particularly interested in students or emerging professionals studying:
- Marketing
- Digital marketing
- Communications
- Media
- Business
- Entrepreneurship
- Food science or food technology
- Biotechnology
- Computer science or information technology
- Data science
- Or a related field
You don't need to have experience in every area. We're more interested in people who are curious, creative, proactive and willing to learn.
You might be a good fit if you:
- Enjoy creating or discussing digital content
- Have an interest in social media and online communities
- Can communicate ideas clearly and creatively
- Are interested in food, science, technology, AI or entrepreneurship
- Enjoy researching unfamiliar topics
- Have good attention to detail
- Are comfortable working independently in a remote environment
- Like experimenting with new digital and AI tools
- Can bring your own ideas rather than simply waiting for instructions
Experience with Canva, Adobe, CapCut, Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn, analytics tools or AI-powered content toolsis helpful, but not essential.
What you'll gain
This internship provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in:
- Digital marketing
- Social media strategy
- Content creation
- Community building
- Science and technology communication
- AI-assisted marketing
- Digital analytics
- Brand development
- Food-tech and emerging technology
- Working with an international, multidisciplinary team
You will also have the opportunity to contribute ideas and develop projects that can become part of FCA's ongoing digital presence.
Why FCA
FCA sits at an unusual intersection: food + science + technology + AI + entrepreneurship.
Rather than marketing an established consumer brand, you'll be helping build the digital identity and community of an emerging organisation from the ground up.
That means your ideas can have a real influence on what FCA becomes.
Students and applicants without previous professional marketing experience are encouraged to apply.
