Senior DevOps Engineer — Remote (Dubai Hours) | 6-Month Contract
Location: Remote
Client location / working hours: Dubai, UAE — 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (GMT+4)
Engagement: Contract, initial 6-month duration, subject to extension
Experience: 4+ years
About the Role
We're hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to own an Azure platform end to end — infrastructure, delivery pipelines, container platform, reliability, and security. You'll set the technical direction for how the team builds, ships, and runs services, and be the person on point when production quality is on the line.
This is a hands-on senior role. Most of your time will be spent writing infrastructure code, hardening pipelines, and improving how the team operates in production. You'll also mentor other engineers and help drive platform-wide standards.
You'll be an advocate for a strong DevOps culture: development teams own the deployment and operation of their own services, and your role is to make that ownership sustainable — acting as a trusted partner who provides the platform, tooling, and guidance teams need to move quickly and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own Azure infrastructure through Terraform, including AKS, networking, storage, databases, Key Vault, ACR, and multi-environment deployments
- Design and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, including automated testing, scanning, approvals, and deployments
- Operate production AKS environments, including Docker images, Helm charts, upgrades, autoscaling, monitoring, and release management
- Improve platform reliability by defining SLOs, observability standards, alerts, runbooks, incident response processes, and disaster recovery plans
- Build self-service tools and platform standards, strengthen cloud security, maintain technical documentation, and mentor engineering teamss.
Nice to Have
- Azure certifications (AZ-400, AZ-305) or CKA/CKAD
- GitOps tooling experience (ArgoCD, Flux)
- Policy-as-code exposure (OPA/Gatekeeper, Kyverno, Checkov, tfsec)
- Service mesh or API gateway experience (Istio, Linkerd)
- Prior on-call rotation ownership
- FinOps or cloud cost optimisation experience.
