The Role

Produces the mechanical drawing set for every Karnot project — plant room layouts, piping schematics, equipment schedules, load calculations, and bills of materials. Works under the sealing authority of the Senior ME (PME).

This is a CAD-based office role at our Mapandan HQ. You will work closely with the PME and the senior electrical engineer on every project, translating site survey data and equipment selection into permit-ready drawing packages. As Karnot grows its project volume, you will increasingly own the drafting workflow — building drawing templates, maintaining the block library, and eventually supervising junior draughtspersons.

The career path here is explicit: Karnot will support you through PRC board exam preparation if you are a board-passer working towards PME, or through continuing professional development if you hold RME. This is a company that invests in its engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce AutoCAD Inventor mechanical drawings: plant room layouts, equipment schedules, piping schematics, hydronic distribution diagrams
  • Perform cooling and heating load calculations for commercial and industrial projects
  • Select equipment from Karnot's product range (iHEAT, iCOOL, iSPA, iZONE) and prepare equipment data sheets
  • Prepare bills of materials (BoM) and material take-offs for project costing and procurement
  • Maintain the mechanical drawing library, title block templates, and AutoCAD block standards
  • Revise drawings following client review, site surveys, or change orders
  • Support the PME in preparing permit submission drawing packages for LGU OBO and BFP
  • Attend site visits for surveys and commissioning validation (approximately 10–15% of time)

Required Qualifications

  • BS Mechanical Engineering from an accredited Philippine university
  • RME (Registered Mechanical Engineer) or board-passer status
  • 2 or more years experience in CAD design for HVAC, refrigeration, or process piping
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Inventor
  • Working knowledge of the refrigeration cycle and basic hydronic system principles
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and product datasheets

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with refrigeration piping design and pressure vessel documentation
  • Knowledge of EN 378 (European refrigerating systems safety standard) for refrigerant containment
  • Familiarity with BFP and LGU OBO permit drawing requirements
  • Experience with hydronic heating and cooling distribution design
  • Revit MEP or BIM authoring experience

What Karnot Offers

  • ₱40,000/month base salary
  • PRC board exam preparation support and study leave for RMEs pursuing PME
  • Mentorship from the Senior ME (PME) — direct exposure to permit design and sealing process
  • Mapandan HQ base — stable, on-site CAD role with no remote-work ambiguity
  • Career path to Senior Mechanical Engineer with project experience

About This Role — Common Questions

Is this a remote or hybrid role

No. This is an on-site CAD role at the Mapandan HQ. Drawing production requires access to the shared design server, the physical sample equipment for measurement verification, and daily collaboration with the PME and sales team. Candidates must be willing to relocate to or already live within commuting distance of Mapandan, Pangasinan.

Will Karnot support me through the PME board exam

Yes. Karnot's intention is to grow its licensed engineering staff. If you hold RME and are working towards PME, Karnot will fund review courses, provide study leave allowance, and structure your project exposure so your experience log meets PRC requirements. This is a firm commitment, not a vague benefit.

What refrigeration products will I be drawing

Primarily iHEAT R290 heat pumps (9.5–100 kW), iCOOL CO₂ refrigeration, iSPA pool heat pumps, iZONE hydronic fan coils, and AquaHERO heat pump water heaters. Karnot does not build bespoke equipment — products are drawn and specified from a defined range, which means drawing standards can be templated and reused efficiently.

What software will I use day to day

AutoCAD Inventor is the primary platform. The drawing library and title blocks will be built to Karnot's standards. You should be proficient in AutoCAD at minimum; Inventor 3D experience is a significant advantage. Other software (Excel for load calculations, Google Sheets for BoM) is used alongside CAD for project documentation.
