Our client is an established international construction and engineering group with operations across Southeast Asia, delivering large-scale infrastructure and industrial projects. The company operates in the Philippines through a local partner and maintains close collaboration with shared services teams in finance, HR, and procurement. The project will be based in Makati, Manila, Philippines supporting both local project operations and regional reporting.
Job Summary:
The Design Engineering Manager will lead and supervise the technical engineering team in delivering geotechnical and retaining wall design solutions, particularly for MSE Wall structures, slope protection systems, and geosynthetic applications. This role is responsible for design review, technical coordination, problem-solving, methodology selection, and ensuring all engineering outputs meet project requirements, safety standards, and client expectations. The position will also serve as the key technical liaison with clients and internal stakeholders while supporting project delivery and technical excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate closely with the Technical Manager regarding project direction, technical approach, and engineering strategy.
- Review technical documents including CAD drawings, geotechnical reports, specifications, and applicable design standards.
- Supervise and guide technical engineers in design development and engineering calculations.
- Review and validate design outputs to ensure accuracy, safety, optimization, and compliance with project requirements.
- Recommend appropriate materials, geotechnical solutions, and construction methodologies based on site conditions and engineering requirements.
- Provide technical solutions for challenging geotechnical and site-related issues.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact with the client's design team and address technical comments or revisions promptly.
- Ensure engineering deliverables are completed within project timelines and quality standards.
- Support project management activities and lead technical coordination within the engineering team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in civil engineering design.
- At least 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering works, including evaluation and interpretation of geotechnical parameters.
- Strong experience in retaining wall systems, MSE Walls, slope protection, soil nailing, or related geotechnical structures.
- Proficient in geotechnical software such as Geo5, Slide, and Plaxis; knowledge of FLAC software is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proven experience leading technical teams and managing engineering projects.
- Familiar with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental considerations.
- High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Willing to work full-time in Makati City, Philippines.
For this position, the client's budget is between 120.000 - 140.000 PHP / month.
