The MEPFS Design Engineer supports the company's real estate developments by preparing small in-house MEPFS designs and leading the technical review, coordination, and value engineering of designs prepared by external MEPFS consultants. The role ensures all MEPFS solutions align with the developer's commercial, operational, and quality objectives while meeting applicable codes and project requirements across multiple simultaneous projects.
Key Responsibilities:
In-House Design
- Prepare MEPFS concepts and detailed designs for small-scale projects and early design stages.
- Develop layouts, calculations, technical drawings, and design narratives in compliance with local codes and company standards.
Consultant Design Review & Management
- Review MEPFS designs, drawings, calculations, and specifications submitted by external consultants.
- Ensure consultant designs align with the developer's interests, including cost efficiency, constructability, operational efficiency, and lifecycle performance.
- Manage and coordinate multiple MEPFS consultants across concurrent projects to ensure consistency, quality, and timely delivery.
- Identify design gaps, clashes, over-design, or non-compliant solutions and coordinate corrective actions.
Value Engineering & Optimization
- Perform value engineering of MEPFS systems to optimize capital cost, operating cost, energy efficiency, and maintainability.
- Propose alternative systems, materials, and layouts that meet performance requirements while reducing overall project cost and risk.
- Support decision-making by preparing technical comparisons and recommendations for management approval.
Technical Compliance & Coordination
- Ensure all MEPFS designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and authority requirements.
- Coordinate MEPFS interfaces with Architectural, Structural, Civil, and specialist systems.
- Support authority submissions and respond to technical comments as required.
Tendering, Construction & Support
- Provide technical input for BOQs, cost estimates, and tender documents.
- Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements.
- Provide technical support during construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.
Quality & Standards
- Maintain and enforce company MEPFS design standards and best practices.
- Ensure proper documentation control and design version management across projects.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
- 510 years of experience in MEPFS design and review, preferably within real estate development or consultancy environments.
- Strong experience in reviewing and value engineering consultant designs.
