Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated
Design Engineer to join our team and contribute to the successful delivery of large-scale infrastructure and reclamation projects. This role involves structural and geotechnical design, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with technical standards and client requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in civil engineering, hands-on experience in marine and coastal works, and the ability to manage design activities efficiently in a fast-paced project environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute structural and geotechnical design and design review activities, including contractor submission checks and internal quality control.
- Coordinate with design, construction management, and project control teams to support construction progress.
- Prepare technical correspondence related to design and geotechnical instrumentation, and liaise with construction and contract administration teams.
- Deliver competent engineering services for marine facilities such as revetments, shoreline protection, ports, and harbours, including soil investigation and testing.
- Perform analysis and design of soil improvement, geotechnical stability, and coastal protection structures.
- Design structural/geotechnical elements from foundations to superstructures using reinforced and pre/post-tensioned concrete and steel.
- Ensure all designs comply with SMEC/SJ standards, including British Standards, ASTM, and Philippine codes for civil, highway, and marine works.
- Liaise independently with clients, contractors, and government authorities to ensure design requirements are met.
- Collaborate with other disciplines (e.g., M&E, environmental, drainage, survey, BIM) to ensure integrated and compliant construction solutions.
- Prepare clear and concise design reports aligned with client expectations.
- Review and validate CAD and drafting outputs related to structural/geotechnical design.
- Assist in preparing specifications, bills of quantities, and tender documents.
- Conduct design reviews for coastal structures such as quay walls, ports, jetties, revetments, and land reclamation for both local and international projects.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized and reputable university.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in large-scale infrastructure or reclamation projects.
- Strong technical knowledge and ability to manage and coordinate design activities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proactive team player with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Self-motivated, disciplined, and resourceful.
- Experience in contract administration is an advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Skilled in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Plaxis.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Willing to accept project-based employment.
- Willing to be assigned in Manila.
