Job Summary

The Data Protection Officer (DPO) is responsible for ensuring the Bank's compliance with all data privacy laws, particularly the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (R.A. 10173), its IRR, and National Privacy Commission (NPC) issuances. The role also represents the Bank in all data privacy–related matters and provides expert legal and privacy guidance, including policy development and recommendations.

Role Exposure

  • Identify and document all personal data processing activities of the Bank.
  • Monitor and evaluate compliance of internal processes and third-party service providers.
  • Ensure required certifications and accreditations are maintained.
  • Advise on and ensure compliance of Data Sharing Agreements.
  • Oversee Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs).
  • Provide guidance on data subject rights and complaints.
  • Manage data breach and security incident reporting to the NPC.
  • Promote awareness of data privacy laws and best practices within the Bank.
  • Support the development and review of privacy-related policies using a privacy-by-design approach.
  • Act as the primary contact for the NPC, data subjects, and regulators.
  • Coordinate with the NPC on data privacy matters.
  • Perform additional tasks that support data protection and uphold data subject rights.

The DPO must adopt a risk-based approach, prioritizing high-risk data processing activities.

Qualifications

  • Licensed lawyer (Juris Doctor or equivalent)
  • Experience reporting to regulators such as NPC, BSP, or SEC
  • Preferably with banking industry experience
