What is the job

The Dental Billing Specialist is responsible for accurately and efficiently handling the billing and insurance-related tasks within a dental practice. This includes reviewing patient bills, preparing and submitting claims, following up on unpaid claims, verifying insurance coverage, and performing data entry.

Responsibilities:

• Review patient bills for accuracy, completeness, and obtain any missing information.

• Reviews patient accounts and determining appropriate billing distributions.

• Prepare, review, and transmit claims using Denticon billing software, including electronic claim processing.

• Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.

• Checking each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount.

• Verify eligibility of patient's coverage by contacting insurance companies (minimum of 55 insurances per day).

• Identifying and billing secondary or tertiary insurances.

• Collects co-pays, issues receipts, post payments and reconcile receipts.

• Perform accurate data entry for billing and insurance purposes.

Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of dental billing experience.

• At least 6 months to 1 year of experience handling inbound/outbound calls and contacting insurance companies for insurance verification.

• Performs data entry and utilizes basic Microsoft Excel formulas.

• Knowledgeable in reviewing and submitting claims, with specific experience in dental billing procedures.

• Familiarity with dental terminologies and procedures.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and customers.

• Proven ability to manage multiple demands efficiently and accurately while maintaining attention to detail.

• Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve issues effectively.

• Must have stable employment history.
