Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and secure our database environments. This role is unique in its focus on both high-level Oracle administration and specialized expertise in PostgreSQL. A primary expectation for this position is leading and supporting complex database migrations from Oracle to PostgreSQL.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Database Management: Provide comprehensive support and maintenance for RDBMS, focusing on the latest versions of Oracle and PostgreSQL.
  • Migrations: Lead technical efforts in migrating databases and applications from Oracle environments to PostgreSQL.
  • Performance Engineering: Conduct thorough performance analysis, capacity planning, and query/index optimization across both platforms.
  • Architecture & High Availability: Manage RAC clusters and implement Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) frameworks.
  • System Integrity: Manage backups, WAL archiving, replication, and high-availability configurations.
  • Automation: Utilize Oracle OEM and develop automation scripts (Shell, Linux, Unix, Windows) to streamline database operations.
  • Security: Oversee database security, access control, upgrades, and patching

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience Level:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience with PostgreSQL (with at least 2+ years in a direct Admin role).

Technical Proficiency:

  • Expertise in Oracle Database processes, architecture, and RAC clusters.
  • Proven experience installing, configuring, and managing PostgreSQL.
  • Hands-on experience with database migration tools and methodologies (Oracle to Postgres).
  • Strong automation skills using Shell Scripting and various OS environments (Linux/Unix/Windows).

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address testing challenges and ensure system quality.

Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have)

  • Oracle Certification (OCP or similar).
  • Experience with Oracle OEM Performance monitoring and automation tools.

  • Amenable to work on weekends and holidays Morning and Mid-Shift Schedule

Work Schedule

Employees will be expected to adhere to a flexible hybrid work schedule, with a required presence in the office for 2 days per week, allowing for customization of work hours within a specified morning or mid-shift time frame.
