Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator II (DBA II) to join our team. The DBA II will be responsible for the maintenance, performance, and security of our Oracle databases, ensuring high availability and consistency. You will work closely with development and infrastructure teams to support current database needs and future growth. The ideal candidate will have experience with Oracle database administration, including backups, restores, replication, and monitoring, with a strong desire for continual learning and supporting both on-premises and cloud-based environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Management: Administer, maintain, and optimize Oracle databases to ensure high performance and reliability.
- Performance Tuning: Monitor and troubleshoot Oracle database performance, optimizing SQL queries and resource utilization.
- Backups & Recovery: Implement and manage Oracle backup, restore, and recovery processes using RMAN and other Oracle tools.
- Database Security: Ensure Oracle databases are secure, following best practices for encryption and access control.
- Continual Learning & Flexibility: Actively engage in learning new technologies, particularly cloud platforms like AWS RDS for Oracle, while continuously improving your expertise in on-premises Oracle administration. Flexibility and openness to working with multi-database environments and emerging technologies are essential.
- Capacity Planning: Analyze database storage requirements and plan for future growth and scalability.
- Database Design & Development: Collaborate with development teams to design Oracle database structures, stored procedures, and queries.
- Automation & Scripting: Automate tasks such as backups, replication, maintenance, and monitoring using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Replication & Clustering: Implement and maintain Oracle high-availability solutions like RAC, Data Guard, and clustering.
- Documentation: Maintain up-to-date documentation on database configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Incident Management: Provide Oracle database support during production issues or outages, ensuring quick resolution.
- Collaboration: Work closely with network administrators, developers, and other IT teams to ensure seamless database integration.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
Experience:
- 3-5 years of Oracle DBA experience, with expertise in Oracle 12c and later versions.
- Strong experience with Oracle performance tuning, query optimization, and database security.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Oracle RAC, ASM, RMAN, and Data Guard.
- Proficiency in Oracle PL/SQL programming.
- Experience with high availability configurations such as Oracle RAC and Data Guard.
- Experience with Oracle database backup and recovery processes.
- Familiarity with database monitoring tools.
- Scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automating tasks.
- Problem-Solving: Strong skills in diagnosing and resolving complex Oracle database issues.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for conveying technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Certifications: Oracle certifications, such as Oracle Certified Professional, and AWS certifications, such as AWS Certified Database - Specialty, are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A strong dedication to continuous learning, particularly in adopting new technologies such as cloud-based solutions like AWS RDS for Oracle. Proven expertise in managing and optimizing both on-premises and cloud-based Oracle environments.
- Exposure to other database technologies like MongoDB,Cassandra, PostgreSQL or MySQL is a plus.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with database encryption and data masking techniques.
