Data Scientist

Position Purpose:

The Data Scientist is Afni's catalyst of discovering the hidden insights in vast amounts of data, and enables our leaders to make smarter decisions about their business. He/she is proficient in applying data mining techniques, statistical analysis, and building high quality prediction systems, integrated with the products and services that Afni provides.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Analyze large, complex data and translates them into human insights and stories which drive actions/changes in strategy and tactics.

2. Selecting comprehensive features, building, and optimizing classifiers using appropriate machine learning techniques/algorithms.

3. Build predictive and forecasting models.

4. Identify and conduct data mining of various sources of data (structured, unstructured)

5. Automate data extraction, collection, anomaly detection, and tracking.

6. Combine business acumen and statistical proficiency to provide high impact recommendations that can drive real world results.

7. Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data prior to analysis.

8. Work closely with Analysts, Operations, IT and other support Groups to extract context from data to validate findings.

9. Facilitate readouts applying data storytelling skills on visualization and presentation mediums, to ensure clear, logical and understandable insights, even to non-technical audience.

Minimum Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Skills):

1. Bachelor's degree on any of the following course/s: Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Physics, Economics, Data Science, or any related courses. Master or PHD degree an advantage.

2. 3+ Years of experience in any of the following languages (R, Python, etc.)

3. 2+ years of experience working with big data platforms and proficient with SQL-style languages.

4. 2+ years of experience with statistical data analysis, data mining, and applied machine learning.

5. Experience in BPO industry, an advantage.

6. Strong communicators with skills in writing and public speaking

7. Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks, applying time management approach.

8. Critical thinking- objectively analyze questions, hypotheses, and results.

9. Proactive problem solving-approach problems by identifying existing assumptions and resources and identify the right method to get the right answers.

10. Intellectual curiosity- dive deeper than surface results and challenge initial assumptions

11. Solutions oriented, looking at differing angles/perspectives to a problem, then focusing on controllable factors to drive solutions.
