Position: Data Quality Test Engineer

Job Summary: Responsible for executing manual and automated data validation tests to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness during migration processes. They assist in validating data migration by verifying row counts, schema accuracy, and transformation logic across source and target systems. Proficient in basic SQL queries, they help identify data anomalies and validate migration outcomes. The role involves supporting automation efforts to improve the repeatability and efficiency of data quality tests, using tools like TOSCA, Selenium, and cloud platforms such as Snowflake and Cloudera. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, the engineer documents and reports data quality issues, ensuring effective resolution and continuous learning to stay up-to-date with industry tools and technologies.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Execute manual and automated data quality tests to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness during migration processes.
- Assist in validating data migration processes by verifying row counts, schema accuracy, and transformation logic across source and target systems.
- Write and execute advanced SQL queries using MySQL or Oracle to identify data anomalies and validate migration outcomes.
- Support the automation of test cases for data migration validation, ensuring repeatability and efficiency of testing processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams using tools like Jira, Confluence, and Slack to track and resolve data quality issues.
- Document and report data quality issues identified during migration activities, coordinating with the data engineering team for resolution.
- Perform data validation, transformation checks, and ETL validation to ensure proper data handling throughout the migration process.
- Identify data quality issues using basic data profiling tools and assist in proposing automation solutions for resolution.
- Develop and maintain basic automation scripts using languages such as Python and SQL to improve data quality testing efficiency.
- Continuously learn emerging tools, techniques, and technologies to enhance data quality testing practices and stay current in the field.
- Has experienced in working on Agile Delivery framework.
Required Skills
- Familiar with foundational data testing principles and tools such as MySQL, Oracle, TOSCA, Snowflake, and Cloudera.
- Basic understanding of data quality issues, including data integrity, completeness, and accuracy.
- Has exposure to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and data management processes.
- Eager to learn about data testing best practices, automation, and tools integration for CI/CD pipelines.
