About the Role

As a Lead Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing modern data solutions that support critical business initiatives. You'll work closely with stakeholders, architects, and agile delivery teams to build scalable, secure, and high-performing data pipelines and platforms.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and implement scalable data solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.
  • Build and optimize cloud-native data pipelines and workflows using AWS services.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, developers, and project teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Evaluate existing systems and recommend modernization, optimization, and architectural improvements.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across platforms and processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and data-related issues.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and integration specifications.
  • Conduct code reviews and promote engineering best practices across the team.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute innovative ideas to improve delivery and performance.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 6–10 years of experience in Data Engineering, ETL development, or related fields.
  • Strong experience with AWS cloud services, including:
  • AWS Glue
  • Step Functions
  • Lambda
  • Batch
  • S3
  • DynamoDB
  • Advanced SQL and data transformation expertise.
  • Experience building and supporting ETL processes and data pipelines.
  • Proficiency with SQL Server, including queries, SSIS, and SSRS.
  • Experience with GitHub and version control best practices.
  • Familiarity with Jira and Agile delivery methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, testing, deployment, and release management processes.
  • Experience implementing data quality, validation, cleansing, and governance practices.
  • Knowledge of secure data handling, including PII and sensitive financial information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the insurance or financial services industry.
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification or other AWS certifications.
  • Experience supporting modernization initiatives and cloud migration projects.
