Title: Data Business Analyst (SQL & Data Mapping)
Overview
We are looking for a Data Business Analyst who can bridge business requirements and technical implementation. This role requires strong experience in source-to-target data mapping, stakeholder engagement, and SQL-based data analysis.
The ideal candidate is someone with a data analyst background who has worked closely with both business stakeholders and developers-translating requirements into actionable technical specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with business stakeholders to gather, clarify, and document data requirements
- Translate business needs into clear functional specifications and data mapping documents
- Develop and maintain source-to-target mappings, including transformation rules and data logic
- Collaborate with developers to ensure accurate implementation of requirements
- Use SQL to extract, analyze, and validate data from multiple sources
- Perform root cause analysis on data discrepancies and ensure data integrity
- Support testing activities including UAT, data validation, and reconciliation
- Document business rules, data flows, and mapping logic in a structured format
Required Skills & Experience
Data & Technical
- Strong SQL skills (joins, aggregations, multi-source queries)
- Experience extracting and analyzing data from multiple systems
- Hands-on experience creating source-to-target mapping documents
- Understanding of data flows, transformations, and ETL concepts
- Experience performing data validation and reconciliation
Business Analysis
- Proven experience working directly with stakeholders to gather requirements
- Ability to translate requirements into developer-ready documentation
- Experience facilitating discussions and clarifying ambiguous requirements
- Strong documentation skills (BRD, mapping docs, functional specs)
Soft Skills
- Strong communication skills (critical)
- Ability to explain technical concepts in business terms
- Detail-oriented and structured thinking
- Collaborative mindset across business and technical teams
Nice to Have
- Experience in data migration or system integration projects
- Experience working in Agile environments
- Exposure to tools like Power BI (not core requirement)

This role is not a pure developer role and not a reporting-only analyst role.
We are specifically looking for candidates with hands-on data mapping experience and strong stakeholder engagement skills.
