Job Description

The Data Architect will focus on designing secure and scalable healthcare data architectures using cloud platforms while ensuring alignment with clinical and operational goals. He/she will be involved in implementing governance frameworks, maintaining regulatory compliance, and enabling interoperability through industry standards like HL7 and FHIR. He/she will optimize data pipelines, maintain data quality, and collaborate with stakeholders to meet evolving healthcare data needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Design and implement baseline healthcare data architectures that are secure, scalable, and aligned with organizational priorities, leveraging cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure in coordination with Cloud and IT teams.
  • Implement and operationalize existing data architecture principles, standards, and governance policies, supporting both clinical and operational data needs during the early stages of the data program.
  • Create and maintain foundational data models for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data, ensuring alignment with the organization's defined Key Data Elements (KDEs).
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to gather data requirements and translate business and clinical needs into practical data designs that support early analytics and reporting use cases.
  • Apply and support healthcare data governance policies to ensure compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations, contributing to data privacy and security across the data lifecycle.
  • Support the onboarding and integration of initial data sources and use cases, ensuring consistency with approved data models, standards, and governance guidelines.
  • Document foundational data lineage and metadata, establishing baseline data quality rules and traceability to support trust and future governance maturity.
  • Support interoperability among healthcare systems (e.g., EHRs, LIS, PACS) by overseeing the implementation of approved standards and mappings aligned with frameworks such as HL7, FHIR, and DICOM.
  • Recommend and apply approved data technologies and architectural patterns for data storage, integration, transformation, and visualization; work with Data Engineers to build and refine batch and nearreal-time data pipelines.
  • Participate in the evaluation and incremental improvement of the data architecture stack, providing feedback and recommendations to support reliable and efficient data operations as the program matures.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as may be assigned or delegated by superiors.

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • Graduate of bachelor's degree in computer science/ information technology/ computer engineering or related fields
  • With at least 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Database Administration (DBA), Business Intelligence, or related data domains, including hands-on experience in data architecture, data warehousing, and enterprise data platforms.
