Data Architect

Job Summary:

• To develop, design, and govern the bank's data architecture to align with business objectives, ensure data management policies and standards, and provide leadership and expertise in data-related initiatives.
• Responsible for maintaining the bank's data blueprint and data assets through creating robust and accurate data models. The architect is expected to define data standards, structures and storage requirements including but not limited to data lifecycle (retention) requirements and quality expectations. The architect plays a key role in data projects, linking and mapping source / data producers to downstream consumers.

How will you contribute:

• Develop and design data architecture that aligns with the bank's strategic business objectives and translates into IT targets, focusing on customer experience, availability, performance, scalability, security, data integrity, and cost.
• Establish and govern data management policies and standards to ensure data accuracy, accessibility, consistency, and security. Define data standards and data lifecycle policies with respect to banking usage and BSP requirements.
• Analyze stakeholder requirements, current state data architecture, and gaps to create a future state data architecture vision for the bank, focusing on reduced complexity, cost efficiencies, reuse, security, reduced risk, and/or improved business capabilities.
• Continue familiarizing with current and new data architecture and management principles with key focus areas in implementing democratized access for data scientists and data consumers alike.
• Participate in defining and operating the data architecture governance process to ensure change initiatives align with the vision and roadmap.
• Work closely with stakeholders, business units and IT across key data initiatives and projects to enforce data architecture principles and standards, develop reference data architectures and design patterns, minimize duplication, and improve operation across interfacing environments.
• Communicate the overall data strategy and data architecture to ensure support by all stakeholders in both business and IT and work closely with stakeholders to develop and implement a roadmap to move the data towards the future state vision.
• Identify, assess, and define data architecture standards, processes, procedures, and metrics that will facilitate understanding and enable implementation or compliance with the approved architecture.
• Participate in solution evaluation and selection of data software and data platforms focusing on the impact on approved data architecture and exploring prospective benefits of related setup changes.
• Undertake any other duties or tasks, which may be reasonably assigned by the ITSSG Head, supervising officer, or other concerned IT senior staff.
• Provide data architectural leadership and expertise to the team, guiding them in making data architecture and technology decisions.

What will make you successful:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field
• Minimum 8-10 years in data architecture, database design, or data engineering, with at least 3-5 years in the banking or financial services industry.
• Experience in modern data technologies particularly the cloud in storing and processing data. Knowledge with banking laws and regulations is desired.
• Proficiency in working with big data, databases, and data modelling.
• Experience in banking model / architecture frameworks is desired (BIAN, Financial LDMs etc.)
• Hands-on experience in data architecture and management principles with sufficient knowledge in data architecture models (Inmon, Kimball or Data Vault 2.0) and experience in managing and cataloging data assets.
