Data Analyst Finance Data Migration

Gallium31 is looking for an experienced Data Analyst – Finance Data Migration to join our technology delivery team supporting a major transformation program for a leading enterprise life insurance organization based in BGC.

The role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and financial integrity of legacy finance data throughout the migration lifecycle.

• You will work closely with Finance SMEs, Business Analysts, Data Migration teams, Developers, QA, and Project stakeholders to profile legacy data, define data-quality rules, validate financial balances, investigate discrepancies, and provide reconciliation evidence required for migration sign-off.

Key Responsibilities

• Profile and analyze legacy SunGL / SunSystems financial data.
• Identify missing fields, inconsistencies, duplicate records, invalid values, and historical data-quality issues.
• Perform trial balance validation and investigate financial discrepancies.
• Analyze historical data across open and closed accounting periods.
• Define and maintain data-quality rules and validation criteria.
• Perform detailed pre-migration and post-migration reconciliation.
• Validate financial totals, balances, record counts, and control totals between source and target systems.
• Investigate reconciliation breaks and identify root causes.
• Work closely with Business Analysts and Finance SMEs to validate:
• Source-to-target mappings
• Transformation rules
• Mapping logic
• Financial business rules
• Support migration dry runs, mock conversions, SIT, UAT, cutover, and production migration activities.
• Assist with migration defect analysis and resolution.
• Prepare reconciliation evidence and reports required for Finance and business sign-off.
• Maintain clear documentation and audit trails throughout the migration lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Data Analysis, Finance Data Analysis, Data Migration, or similar roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with data profiling, validation, reconciliation, and data-quality analysis.
• Strong SQL skills for querying and investigating large datasets.
• Experience working with financial or General Ledger data.
• Good understanding of:
• General Ledger
• Trial Balance
• Debit and Credit balances
• Accounting periods
• Financial reconciliation
• Control totals
• Experience supporting enterprise data migration or finance transformation initiatives.
• Ability to perform detailed source-versus-target validation.
• Strong analytical and root-cause-analysis skills.
• High attention to detail, particularly when working with financial data.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to collaborate with Finance, Business, and Technology stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

Experience with SunGL / SunSystems is highly desirable.

Additional experience in life insurance, financial services, finance transformation, General Ledger migration, ERP migration, ETL/data migration tools, SQL Server or Oracle, advanced Excel, Power BI, Jira, Confluence, SIT/UAT, and large-scale enterprise transformation programs will be advantageous.

Role Objective

The successful candidate will ensure that financial data migrated from legacy platforms is complete, accurate, traceable, and financially reconciled, giving Finance and project stakeholders the confidence and evidence required to approve the migration.
