This is a hands-on seat with real ownership of a portfolio and a voice in how deals get structured.
What You'll Be Doing
- Owning credit risk for a portfolio of physical trading counterparties, from onboarding and KYC through to ongoing review
- Assessing counterparties, assigning internal ratings and setting limits
- Visiting counterparties and their sites to build an on-the-ground view of the business
- Placing and managing credit insurance cover, including negotiating with brokers and underwriters
- Building relationships with key counterparties, banks and other financial institutions
- Tracking market and industry events that could affect counterparty health
- Advising traders day to day, proposing ways to make deals work within acceptable risk
- Monitoring exposures and daily reporting, escalating limit breaches and managing margining
- Working within the group's credit policy alongside a global credit team, and contributing to wider credit projects
What We're Looking For
- 5 to 8 years of credit risk experience in commodities trading, metals and mining, or a financial institution with exposure to commodity trade flows
- Strong financial analysis skills and sound knowledge of credit risk and control principles
- Ability to recommend practical mitigants while supporting commercial goals
- Confident communicator and negotiator, comfortable with traders, senior management and external counterparties
- Independent, decisive and able to juggle competing priorities under tight deadlines
Good to have
- Familiarity with physical commodity flows in China or African mining
- Experience assessing structured or longer-dated transactions
